Scrabooking ABC books (for gifts)

I'm making dd an ABC book for Christmas. I'm also making two friends' kids one. I'm collaborating with some people and swapping extra stickers, etc. For instance, I have some monkey stickers but only need one for the page, so I could trade with like 5 other people! :LOL

Anyone want to join?

Or...if you have an idea for a letter, please feel free to add it!

Here's what I have so far:

Depending on age of kids you are making them for, you could also put in shapes, colors, days of the week, etc. Also relationships like friend, neighbor, teacher. When I did mine, I also did adjectives that described the child.

When I went through my stickers, I found just TONS of stuff. Almost every sticker I had would work somewhere. I had a sticker strip of fruits, so of course every fruit starts with a letter and went on the corresponding page.

ABC books are so cute!!

I'm making it for 18 month olds...so I'm trying to stay really concrete. Fruits/foods are a great idea! Thanks!

Oh good job! That's awesome. I knew there were so many I was just not thinking of.

Have you decided how you're going to do the backgrounds and letters?

I think I am going to try to use eyelets to make up a shoe lace up for tie and use eyelets to put a zipper on the z page. I was thinking I coulg do the eyelets through the top of the page protector and the page. Anyone ever tried this?

I wish I could show you the one my friend and I made for my mom. It is awesome. We did the abc thing and had soo much fun with it. She has two girls that are like my nieces and call my mom grandma, and I have a nephew. We used them for all the pics in the book and it turned out great. My nephew actually looked at it every night settling down for like 6 months. Great idea!!!

Cute! I have a question...when doing an ABC book, did you emebllish and decorate each page, or did you keep it kind of simple? Did you use the same background for each page? Did you use sticker for the alphabet, or write the letters, or what? Did you write each letter once on the page or more than once? Thanks!

This is one of my favorite examples of ABC books.

I also saw one on Carol Duvall made the size of the 4x6 picture albums. I am in the process of making one using coloring book pages from the internet resized to ~2inch or smaller pictures printed on sticker paper. I then color each one and cut out. Its a little more labor intensive but cheeper than buying all the stickers. I do have quite alot of stickers but this fills in the gaps.

Thanks for the link, Tricia! That really helped me, as I'm a visual person.

I plan on going to my local scrap store to use a lot of their die cuts, also, because I can use them for free. I agree about stickers getting expensive. I don't plan to buy any- just to use the ones I already have. Of course, you know what they say about the best laid plans!!! :LOL
