gift for an 8 year old boy????????

Thread Starter
He spends way too much time with his head in the videogames/electronics cloud. I am making all my Christmas gifts this year and have no clue what to do for him. I plan to start working my way through the gifts thread at the top of the list tomorrow but would love any specific ideas. What do your kids this age love to play with?

Thanks so much

Would he like a costume to dress up like his favorite video game character?
Just a thought

My kids loved robes at that age (they still do). Maybe with matching pj's or lounging pants?

I second the costume idea. Capes are always great ideas!

Cover a box with fabric to put his video games in?

A box to put his personal items in? Covered in fabric; video game pics - ooh! make it look like an xbox or gamecube or something or other.

Does he play with cards? I've made my boys little bags to hold their cards and little bags to hold their gameboy games. When we go for a long car trip, it makes it easier to bring them along. And it keeps them all in one place!

Thats all I can think of now........

edit** Sorry new and didn't know.

Child Name signs searched under Yahoo or MSN will produce a very nice product that is non toy related and can be personliazed to your childs activites.

I hope that is ok?

When Phelan was 8 dh designed a treasure hunt for him for the holidays. He had to solve riddles, unscramble words, figure out some math problems and hunt all over the house for clues. It eventually lead him to a treasure chest that had money, chocolate coins, Magic cards, and other small things in it. The gifts themselves weren't big and are certainly custom-izable but the experience made it a hit. He keeps requesting more of them! It's becoming a tradition.

What about making a wood building kit? If you could get some tools together and scrap wood (or better yet, have someone cut out a pattern for say, a bird house or tool box and include the directions).
