Marion Zimmer Bradley's Darkover

Has anyone else read these books ? I am reading my 12th darkover book (not in order) in the series/saga. I started reading them because I read MZB's other books, like the Mists of Avalon books, and I wondered what else she wrote.

I don't usually read sci-fi, but I love these books. The characters are great and I really care about them. Although each book is part of a series, it is complete in and of itself, you don't need to read the whole series for an individual book to make sense. But unlike many books in series, there is no repetitive rehashing of old facts which the reader needs to know. They are presented well in the story line without becoming redundant.

Anyone else ? Ever want to cut your hair and become a Renunciate ? Of get a matrix stone and join a tower ? C'mon... talk to me.

in maryland every thanksgiving weekend there's a darkover convention! I do like them, although every once in awhile there's a bit of 70's era feminism spillover that's interesting (her views on parenting and breastfeeding are kinda dated.) But my objections usually total one or two lines in a whole book, so no big deal.

My username is from the Darkover series. I wanted to be a renunciate when I was a kid, now I would prefer working in a tower (my marriage is di cantanas (sp?))

you wear bracelets? What religion do you practice? (Miss NosyPants I am).

And yup, I stoped by the con once, I have friends who go. I was only there a little while. Like any other scifi con, but a few more women, and more lesbians, which was a nice change. Thanksgiving weekend is always so busy for me though...
