The U.S. Centers for Disease Control reported on 8/25/05 that 1/3 of six - 19-year-olds are fluoride overdosed and display dental fluorosis - white spotted, yellow or brown and sometimes pitted or crumbly teeth. (A)

Infant formulas prepared with fluoridated water increase dental fluorosis risk, according to a research published in the Journal of the American College of Nutrition (JACN) (1) and other studies.

I hate feeling like a total freak b/c I don't give fluoride supplements to my kids.

We have flouridated city water, so we don't use a flouridated toothpaste. This makes me feel a little less freakish about our decision.

Well, we're on well water and don't use fluor. toothpaste but I think we get enough from drinking water in public. Tough issue, though; ie. how much is enough....
