Hey sleepies! Congratulations on your pregnancy. Do you know you are having a boy? (Oh, duh, just followed your link and saw the ultrasound images. Yep, he's a boy all right! Cute baby!)

I don't know of any books, but I can tell you this: you don't have to do anything. Never try to retract the foreskin, and never let any doctor or anyone else retract the foreskin. That's about it. Oh, and don't let anyone cut it off.

Before I knew anything about intact care, I babysat a little intact boy full time. Never did anything special, just made sure to wipe the poop off at diaper changes, just as if I were wiping it off of a finger.

Now I have an intact son, and believe me, there is absolutely nothing to it.

When he gets older, and finds that he can retract it on his own, then he will need to retract and rinse with water in the shower.

HI sleepies,

I would follow the links in the stickies above to the Fleiss article that Mothering published on caring for your uncircumcised son. The hygiene issue is nothing - wipe like a finger, don't retract the foreskin, the end - but you will need to educate yourself to protect your son from well-meaning but ignorant doctors and nurses!

I hope you will keep your new baby boy intact!

There really r no books that I know of since care of the intact penis is so simple. Just wipe it off like you would a finger at each diaper change. NEVER EVER EVER retract it or let any one else including dr. or other health care professionals retract it. Make sure to read the sticky above "Warning to parents of intact sons" Hopefully u will never have to protect your son from a ignorent dr but just in case be prepaired. Reading here is the #1 best place i have found to talk about and learn. Dont be afraid to ask any question you want we will be happy to help you out.

When ur son is old enough to worry about cleaning he will prolly be in puberty and will prolly figure things out really fast for himself :LOL just teach him from to swish it around a bit in the bathtub. I actually dont have to do this since ds splashes so hard. :LOL

Hi there. Congrats on your baby-boy-to-be! And on the decision to leave him intact. I don't have any books to recomend, but i have some links that I found helpful. We were in the same boat almost four years ago(no intact experience). Both my dh and I were very pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to care for our intact boys. My friend circed her son and after listening to her talk about what she had to do to care for him, it really made me wonder where people got the idea that circed is easier!

I hope you will find these helpful.

Take care,
Tara
