Thinking for herself(?)

Thread Starter
My daughter (age 7) was telling me about a book they read at school today.

When I asked for the title, she said "I can't remember, but it had nice illustrations." Long pause, then: "That's what the teacher said."

I asked, "What did *you* think about the illustrations?"

"Oh," she said, "they were OK."

Ack.

Often I get that kind of response when I want to talk about school and my daughter wants to be doing something else. It isn't that she wasn't interested in the activity at the time, it is just that something else is interesting now.
