Homebirth or a hospital waterbirth with a midwife (DD was a natural hospital birth with a midwife...DH wouldn't consider homebirth first time around....this time he'll at least talk about it so maybe...)

Pre-DD I WOH as a web editor at a university and taught yoga part-time. Now I teach yoga part-time and write very part-time (one article a month) for my local parenting magazine. When the new baby comes I will probably cut my teaching back from 4-5 classes a week to maybe 2 classes a week.

7. Where do you live? (Be as vague/specific as you want to be)
I'm in Southern New England

8. How did you find MDC and how long have you been here?
I saw Mothering Magazine at a friend's house years ago and was fascinated by it. DH bought me a subscription when we were TTC our DD and then I heard about MDC. I've been here since Dec. 2002.

9. Do you/will you cloth diaper?
I'm an economy cloth-diaperer. No hyena dipes in my stash....I'm mainly a Wonderoos gal.

10. Were you raised AP/NFL?
Kind of, I guess. Mom had natural births and BF'd us for a year (when most people around her were FF). We didn't co-sleep but we spent a lot of time hanging out in our parents room/bed and were welcome to co-sleep when we were sick/scared etc. I don't think my parents "wore us" but they certainly carried us a snuggled us a lot!!

One of my favorite things about being a mama is snuggling up in our family bed!!

After a m/c I went completely nuts over EVERYTHING being natural,and i me absolutly everything.I was fortunate to have a friend give me a used copy when I was looking into CD and never looked back,thankfully I have calmed down abit on everything else and found a happy medium for me,I.e canned beans are allowed back in the house!! :LOL

we did with Griff although he sleeps in his crib now,he actually seems to prefer it,I actually steal him into outr bed sometimes and he wakes up in the night a bit peed off :LOL

5. What kind of birth are you planning? Another homebirth, I have one each hospital and homebirth under my belt

6. Do you WOH, SAH, WAH (or some combo of the three)? Will that change after this baby is born? I'm a SAHM, but I do some freelance at home sometimes. Might be starting a WAHM business with my mom, but it depends on how I feel with the pregnancy and then the holidays fast approaching.

8. How did you find MDC and how long have you been here? I think I stumbled on MDC when I was googling cloth diaper boards. I was posting a lot at BabyCenter but realizing just how much I didn't fit in there. :LOL It was love at first "site". :LOL October 2002, almost three years!

9. Do you/will you cloth diaper? I started cd'ing when #1 was 14 months and ds was always cd. I'm thinking we'll do a combo of EC and CD'ing this time if I can manage to watch for signs while chasing two other kiddos!

10. Were you raised AP/NFL? Sort of, but then again they didn't have access to information like I do now. I have to say my parents really gave it their all and I appreciate that! And they are just as great with the grandbabies.

11. Do you/will you co-sleep? Yup, dd is in her own bed now and ds still sleeps with us.

10. Were you raised AP/NFL? not particularly. mom didn't co-sleep, only bf'ed for 2 weeks, didn't wear me (although did carry me in-arms quite a bit), etc. AP/NFL was just something i kind of fell into while listening to my instincts.

11. Do you/will you co-sleep? we've co-slept with ds from day 1, and will be with this one, too. i'm hoping for a larger mattress, though :LOL

4. TTC or Surprise? Um, a little bit of both sort of. I mean, we weren't trying but we weren't not.
5. What Kind of Birth Are You Planning? I would love a home waterbirth however we may end up going with a birthing center water birth.

I'm looking for a part-time gig to bring in some extra $$$ and I try to find nannying/babysitting jobs where I can get them. We're also trying to start an errand service. DH cannot stand his job and we've been aching to start our own business for years. We'd also like to start an in-home daycare sometime after the baby is born. There's tons of other stuff we are aspiring to as well but I won't go into all that... Oh what the hay! Just a little. We want to try selling our art as well, photos, mosaics, etc. and I'm really interested in midwifery. We'd like to do some social work also. OK, now I'll stop or this could get ridiculous.
7. Where Do You Live? We live in The ATL. I was born and raised here and DH is originally from WI. Freakin' COLD man!
8. How Did You Find MDC? How Long Have You Been Here? A longtime friend of mine that has two kids herself turned me on to Mothering maybe 4 or 5 years ago. Too sweet. I would visit the Mothering website and signed up for the on-line newsletter. We only recently got our 1st home PC so now I get to wile away days here where as before we had to go to the library to use the computer and you only get an hour of useage after a usual wait of an hour so I hardly ever had time to visit.
9. Do You / Will You CD? I'm all about some : (I've been waiting to use that smilie.) I just always felt like that's what I would do w/o even thinking about it. My sissy laughs at me but we have comepletely opposite views on how to raise a child. She's nuts and I'm right! :LOL
10. Were You Raised AP? Hmmm, in some regards. We were bottle fed but we got to sleep with my Mama quite a lot. Even when I was grown and would come over to visit, I'd just hop in my Mama's bed and we'd go to sleep. We got spanked and that was ugh. When we got older our Mom would tell me, my brothers and sister "If you hit my grandbabies I'll hit you! " :LOL We're all like "What the?" But my mom used to tell me that back when she was having babies that's just how you did it. That's how she was raised and she couldn't really see any other way that she could really get us to not get ourselves in deep doo. Of course we did anyway! That's what kids do. Mess up. Make mistakes, whatever. Sometimes it's little, sometimes it's so far beyond that. But I really appreciated my mom telling us this stuff ya know? Before I really realized how getting spanked and other stuff in how we were raised affected my opinions on childrearing I was a supporter of spanking. Now I'm mortified and am close to tears when I see a child getting hit. I think my mom did what she felt was right at the time and we turned out relatively sane. :LOL In spite of getting spanked I feel that my Mama did an excellent job with us and I will always love and respect her for the woman she helped me to become. Even shen she was ticking me off! :LOL Whew, sorry about the spanking rant! Let's see, I also remeber going to work with my mom sometimes. That was always fun.
11. Do You / Will You Co-Sleep? Nothing would please me more but convincing DH is another kettle of grits altogether. We'll probably compromise and try to find an affordable side sleeper.

yes, and no....dd starts out the night in her bed, and then moves to our bed whenever she wakes up (she'll sleep alone anywhere from 1hr-9hrs)

10. Were you raised AP/NFL? No, neither DH or I were. We stumbled across it because Lauren was high-needs and I saw Dr. Sear's fussy baby book. It just clicked and we started co-sleeping, etc. right away.
11. Do you/will you co-sleep? We are planning to co-sleep with #2 for as long as s/he wants to. Lauren co-slept till she was 4 months and then didn't want to sleep that close to us so we moved her to her crib.

8. How did you find MDC and how long have you been here? I have been posting at boards for a long time, but only came to MDC a couple years ago after I started reading the magazine.
9. Do you/will you cloth diaper? Yeah, I use cloth but it is a service so it is pretty basic, no hyena-ing here :LOL.

11. Do you/will you co-sleep? Yeah, I coslept with my youngest until she was about 6 months. After she moved out my 3 year old moved in. I am not sure what the arrangment will look like when baby comes. Family bed? Cosleeping with baby? Cosleeping with 2?
