henna and commercial dye?

I made the mistake of coloring my hair using commercial dye. It was GROSS. My question is, can I henna it from now on, or will it not work over this stuff?

Check out www.hennaforhair.com there is a lot of good information there about henna and resources for ordering. I would wait a little while before using henna over a chemical dye, there can sometimes be a reaction and it can turn your hair green. If you are in a hurry to henna over it be sure to do a strand test first.

Wait a while. My sister had a bad henna-hairdye reaction that turned her hair the most horrid, baby-poop shade of green ever. (And I've purposefully died my hair green, so I know from good green haircolor!)

My henna after haircoloring experience has all been good, though I have always waited at least a month. My sis' bad experience was the day after, I believe.

Definitely do a strand test.

Henna and the product in most commercial haircolors called PPD can have an effect on the hair which turns it green, but can also have a reaction which turns it to smoke, melting the hair completely off your scalp. nice shiny skin and chemical burn. Not fun. Keep the two separate always!
