Oooo, can we get them to call the mom in the "Cat in the Hat" too?

She leaves her children alone and a stranger comes over and tries to get them to play with his "things". AHHH!

Yes, we have two Frances books that my older son really liked to read (or, should I say, have me read). And we have the one about the spanking. It shocked me, too. And whenever I would read it to DS I just edited out the spanking part. Come to think of it, this sort of thing has happened quite a bit in our reading adventures. Like, Babar, for instance. DS LOVES the Babar stories, but there are guns in one, and the mom gets killed by a hunter, etc. Ugh

I live in "the badger state" Grrrrr

My parents practiced gentle discipline and the spanking part of Bedtime For Frances always gave me a cheap thrill for some reason. It seemed so dark and forbidden . . . :LOL

Wisconsin? At least I think that is the Badger state. Unless Francess is a Wolverine and then I'd say Michigan!

I love the Francis books. My daughter won't sit through the whole book yet without getting antzy so we haven't gotten to the spanking part. We have all the Frances books though so I will probably just edit and keep reading!
