Well, after two plus months of B-H contrax, you'd think I woulda known better. Spent last night hopping from contrax, couldn't sleep, then when they continued in the morning I thought, well, hey! Look at that. Woke the DH, spent a nice quiet morning doing puzzles with the DS and DH, we all went for a walk....and then it started to peter out. The contrax started to vary, from every 2-3 minutes (whew) to 10-15 minutes, then one or two per 30-60 minutes, and on from there. I'm having a contraction a few times an hour, but that's typical for me, and I'm GROUCHY! :

What the @$%&???

The doula recommended a glass of wine and an early bedtime, and I'll settle for beer (wine? hah.) and a good book in bed. Grump, grump, grump.

:LOL Last pregnancy I craved a beer the whole time--I kept thinking about having a nice, cold Sapporo. Then I had the baby and I didn't care about it at all!

Hope you both have a good night!

Sounds like a good idea to me. Also, a warm bath will help to know if this is 'real labor'. If they speed up or intensify in the tub, and continue that way, then it's most likly labor.

I wanted Asahi Super Dry but I am over that now. Wonder what it is about Japanese beer?

Yuck, man! That stuff is nasty! Give me a Bellhaven Ale PLEASE!

Ziva, I've been having the same thing since Saturday. My mw came over and checked me Sat night just to make sure I wasn't having a painless labor (hey, weirder things have happened!) and I was 4. That was Saturday and I've been contracting pretty steadily since then. I'm starting to lose hope. I never had early labor before. I went from 1cm to pushing in 2 hours at the hospital w/ ds1 (no, I was not induced) and was 9cm after an hour and a half w/ ds2 (I think I was 3cm at my Dr appt a few days before that.) Early labor is very disheartening, imo.

Thanks, DoulaMommy - I'll definitely try that warm bath! I've got an appt tomorrow, so we'll see what the doc has to say, but last night was the best night of sleep I've had in a week. After the beer, I had three rather unpleasant contrax, and then I was able to sleep until 4am, when I started the waking/contrax and going back to sleep pattern all over again.

The doula's a bit worried about this, since it's been going on for 7+ months. She said that she'd really like it if my uterus had a break before it really swings into action. Ya, well, me too! Today's been a really quiet day as far as contrax go, which has been great. I hadn't realized just how much energy it takes out of me to have a set of B-Hs.

Thanks for the support, ladies! And no, can't speak to the japanese beer thing. I'm a dutch beer girl, myself.

I'm sorry. I had finally given up on the B-H's being real and resigned myself to a late-baby when she arrived.

Last pregnancy I craved Guinness... don't know a lot of fans of sweet dark beer but after a delicious pint of a dark beer while I was in England, I've had an attraction to them.

Funny thing... I never got that Guinness before I was pregnant again a year after dd was born.
I never heard of having a beer or glass of wine to check if my contractions were "real" labor contractions. That's interesting. Maybe I should buy a can of guinness draft just in case...
