How do you keep your shower/tub clean?

I admit it, I have been lazy about keeping my shower and tub clean. Months would go by without cleaning it before my son was born, but now that he is old enough to sit in the tub (with assistance) it has become necessary to scrub off the soap scum and keep the darn thing clean.

My mother suggested those after-shower spray on things made by Lysol or whatever, but I don't like those harsh chemicals sticking around and then floating around in the bath water.

What natural products do you use, or what kind of routine cleaning do you recommend?

We live on a budget and we also live in an area where natural products are very hard to find.

Thanks!

I mix baking soda with dishsoap to make a paste, and use it same as I'd use comet. I love it, it makes my tub shiny and I don't have to worry about every speck getting rinsed out before someone uses the tub. If there's a poo in tub issue I put a few pumps of antibacterial handsoap in the paste and use that. I started doing this about 3 months ago and I can't imagine why I ever used the nasty chemical cleaners.

Baking Soda works great...just sprinkle it in and scrub. I usually spray over my BS with a vinegar-water mixture (equal parts of each) to make it fizz, but it really isn't necessary!

I just use a squirt of my regular shampoo, either on a puff ball scrubbie or a regular wash cloth... works great! If I'm really on top of things, I remember to do this at the end of a bath, when there's still water (and even a family member or two) in the tub... keeps me from having to do a 'real' cleaning session!

In addition to the above suggestions you could designate a "tub/shower drying towel" in the bathroom. Just dry off the tub and shower right after each use. Cuts way back on build-up and crud.
