I just want to tell you guys about a new CD I just got my daughter for her 3rd birthday... Dan Zanes and friends House Party. I saw him on Noggin and thought he was just georgeous and loved the song House Party so I checked out who he was and it turns out that he had the band The Del Fuegos... his bio is pretty interesting and he's done lots of work with other interesting musical personalities including Cherly Crow, Suzanne Vega and my fave... John Doe. I figured that I could not miss with a kid's CD by this guy and would not be chewing my fingers to nubs with some artificially colored kid sound fakey fakey pablum. It's just as good as I'd hoped... very folksy and word-ish with songs from Jamaica, Africa, England and in Spanish too as well as American folk songs and Zanes originals and enough rhythm to remind you that still have toes to tap (even if pregnant 'ol me can't see 'em) Top it all off the CD "case" is actually a whimsicly illustrated 8 page board book explaining the origins of the 20 songs.
