I used 7th Generation, and was not at all impressed with the results - I had put that down to our really iron-laden well water. Reading the responses here, I'm not so sure :LOL

Same here -- I love Ecover products and have had little success with 7th Gen!

I normally use Ecover but have just bought some of these http://www.ethicstrading.com/soapnuts.htm

I have friends who swear by them but they don't seem to be doing a very good job at getting sweat etc out of clothes. But I do have very hard water and they do leave clothes very very soft. When I add Ecover laundry bleach they do perform much better.

Wow, I'm so excited this thread is still alive & kicking (despite the fact that I forgot about it)!

I had a laundry victory yesterday: a spot came out most of the way -- I let it dry in sun, and the sun bleache dit out the rest of the way. I was ecstatic and have voewd to renew my harassment of Mr. Bleu to got to all-clothesline-all-the-time (we currently use the dryer or air-dry in the house -- he's anti-clothesline, but he's about to get over that!). Okay, so that wasn't all that relavant to laundry detergent, but I had to share.

Fayking -- I am so glad you mentione dthose non-detergent laundry cleaning products. If we don't get enough talk about them in this thread, I'm gonna start another one. I am not actually familiar with the one you mentioned. I have been VERY curious about the Tsunami Wave Cleaning Capsules, but I'm reluctant to cough up the bucks until I hear about it firsthand from someone who is not trying to sell it. Has anyone tried it???

We use the Trader Joe's Brand as well - very affordable and environmentally friendly.

i like biokleen, but i do agree it needs some help with the diapers, so i add borax or baking soda. biokleen is much cheaper than the others i priced on drugstore.com, - it came in at about 20 cents a load, while tide was like 40 cents a load! and your water is hard if you need to use a ton of soap to get bubbles and your skin feels really dry after a shower. it tends to be harder if your water comes from a well. and the sun does a great job bleaching whites!!!

My #1 fave is liquid ECOVER laundry soap & fabric softner...we have hard water too & they do the job well plus have the best smell ever!!

For baby laundry soap I just started using MOUNTAIN GREEN & really like it.

I keep a box of powder BI-O-KLEEN on hand always & like to use that for diapers & spit-up rags.

I have tried 7th Generations laundry soaps & was not pleased...I *do* like their dish soaps & spray cleaners though!
