He was born at 9:39 pm at night and we're all doing well. He's already been nursing quite a bit right after delivery. As some of you might know, my Dr. had been wanting to induce me for over a week now due to panic/anxiety related BP highs/lows. So Luca was born after I decided to go in for an induction this afternoon. I was induced with Pitocin only and got into a nice pattern about 45 mins. into it. My Doula was soooo great and I really loved having DH and DD in the room with me. Once the contractions were 2 mins. apart I knew I had to make a decision about getting an epidural or not. I was feeling a little under the weather the last couple of days and haven't slept in days...so I decided to get an epidural. My contractions were already on top of one another and I'm glad my Doula and the nurse were helping me through them while the catheder was placed. One side went numb quickly but I still had a very painful spot let. When the nurse checked me again I had progressed from 4 to almost 8 centimeters from the time the the were starting to prep for the epi until I was feeling halfway numb. The Dr. placed the catheder again and I started feeling pressure only...my nurse went to call my Dr. then, because Luca was already starting to crown...My DH was called into the room and my Doula went outside to play with DD. It took me about 5 pushes (that I didnt' really feel that much) to have my little boy. I had not tearing at all, minimal bloodloss and he started nursing right away. About 2 hours after his birth and skin to skin cuddling we changed his first diaper and got some of the necessities done. He's been nursing/sleeping on me ever since. DH and DD are asleep on a blow-up queen mattress right next to me. I feel so rested and well after this 5pm-9:39pm labor/delivery (what's most interesting to me is that I don't feel like a failure even though DD was all natural and DS was all medicated, because I feel so much better and stronger today than after my DD's birth which was unmedicated but took all my energy for about a week) In the end all that counted for me today is having my little family there with me at the hospital and have my son in my arms, finally.

It's after 3am now and I think I'll try and get some rest before he wants to nurse again. I'll be checking in frequently since my hospital room has the luxury of wireless internet
Thanks to every Mama on here that has helped me out with support during the last 9 months. I don't know what I would do without this awesome kinship here on MDC.
Love, Alex
