how long should the finished pouch sling be?

i measure 24" from shoulder to hip. ok so i doubled that and added 6 inches. after sewing the curve it's 27" long from shoulder to 'curve' and it's way too big.
dd is way past my hip
so how many inches should i cut/resew at the shoulder seam so that it will fit properly??

any ideas how long it "should" be from shoulder seam to curve when finished??

thanks in advance.

I would just keep sewing a new seam closer and closer.

Do you have instructions on how to make one of these? Thanks!

I'm thinking you want to have the bottom *rail* of the pouch, where the folded edge is, to be the 24" measurement -- that's as long as you want it to be (and depending on fabric, may need to be shorter!). Have you been to http://www.thebabywearer.com/ ? There is an excellent DIY section in the articles. HTH!
