What to do about suddenly massive boobs?

So, as a lifetime member of the Training Bra Club, I was not prepared to have my breasts turn into giant overheated rocks. I don't want to buy a maternity bra yet, as a)they're expensive and b) I'm only 5 weeks on, what if I get bigger?

Ah alfabetsoup...I too am a former member of that club! You are too funny, but I have no advice as this is my first pregnancy!

Awww......sorry to hear but hey this is your chance to show them off. Buy you some great summery tops while you can!!!
Mine are sore and a little bigger but nothing anyone would really notice.

Yup, another training bra club member here. I like to wear sports bra-typ bras when preg & nursing. You can find some that offer more stretch so they will accomodate those fluctuating sizes. For nursing I would just lift up one side - much more convenient IMO than unhooking & rehooking, and needing to use two hands.

Enjoy 'em while you got 'em!

Enjoy them?

With DS, I bought sports bras, or tanks with built in bras for that uncomfortable "In between" stage. Hopefully that happens again here, i kind of like the idea of being a B-cup again.

i'm nursing ds so i don't get to enjoy massive boobs this time around ...unless something changes??

Alfabetsoup, it's much too early for a maternity bra. Try a sportsbra and just bear with them. They will probably get bigger. Enjoy them while you have them.

If you are ouchy and DP is amazed by the new abundance, make sure you have a swatting implement at the ready!

My poor DP is a "Boob Man" and he considers it one of life's greatest ironies that when my breasts are at their most luscious, they are either totally taken over by a nursling, or are too painful for him to fully enjoy...or both! I feel for him, I do.... :LOL

Thanks for all the advice! Think I'll have a look for some sports bras today.

Yes, sports bras are a godsend!

I wear a DD normally (although those darned online bra sizing calculators say I need a J! I will not buy weird sized bras...I will stuff myself into a DD :LOL ) but during pg I like a good sports bra to keep everything a) in place, and b) not constricted by an underwire.

HOpe you find a good bra!!

I like the idea of filling out an A cup! Unfortunately I went right back down as soon as I quit nursing, and I'm not feeling any changes with this pregnancy.

I'm not in your group but wanted to reply!
I was never small but my boobs got big really early. I found out I was pregnant exactly 20 days before I got married and in that time I went up a cup size (from an already LARGE C). They didn't really get much bigger after that until the end of my pregnancy but I got bigger bras (not maternity) anyways. By the time I actually got them I was already wishing I had them, I'd gotten too uncomfortable. I'd say get a bigger size for comfort reasons.

I had a similar experience with my first pregnancy....I went from a 34 C to a 36 DDD within the first trimester (and I did't even gain a pound until the second tri-not sure where all that boob came from). Anyway, I went to a discount store like TJ Maxx or Marshall's and bought one black and one light underwire bra each time I moved up a size (until I got to DDD and then I had to invest at the real Dept. store since the discounters didn't go up that high). I didn't begin wearing a nursing bra until I was nursing, and I never wore a maternity bra.
