Expired Epi Pens

What can you do with the expired Epi Pens? Are they really not any good after a year? I have a bunch of them (thankfully huh!)

We turn all our expired epi-pens in at the ped/allergist for proper disposal.

I would never trust an expired pen. I carry 2 for each boy and always check the dates and colors of the meds. Our docs are always very happy to see unused epi-pens.

Mine are only good for 6 mo. and I just threw them out... :
I didn't know you were supposed to turn them in.

Ok, hm, our dr. never said anything about turning them back in. Someone else told me that you can use them for 'training' w/ an orange to show relatives and teachers, etc. I've never done it though and I have tossed a few out, but I have a few that are no good anymore.

We were told to turn them in because of the needle. They just drop them into their bio-hazard trash. I'm not sure if there is really a "right" thing to do with them.

Every month in our support group we would use the expired epipens to shoot up oranges. It's very different from using the blue trainer pen and I HIGHLY recommend doing this with anyone's expireds.
