I don't really "wash" mine...more like soak! :LOL Heat and agitation will cause shrikage which is really the main reason for the hand washing. What I do is just fill my bathroom sink with room temp water, mix in some wool wash and let soak for 15 mins. Then squeeze out the water (gently!) and hang to dry. Really, there's only about 2 minutes of actual hands on work, so I find it pretty simple. Unless there is a stain I need to work out a bit, that's all I do! I haven't tried machine washing my LB (mine is dark green and bleeds a bit) but I have machine washed all my other wool : and they have been fine. I don't do it often, but once in a while on delicate and in cold water, just to freshen them up a bit.

is it 100% wool or a blend like 97/3? i work with the blend quite a bit and i've found that machine washing on gentle with warm water works really well with this wool. of course you should still use wool wash and not regular detergent.

The 97/3 blend is great for gentle machine washing. I've found that this fabric is so nice & dense that lanolizing really isn't necessary...in my experiences with it anyways. mmmmmmmmmmmm <--dd had an opinion on her wool interlock :LOL

It's just wool. I just read something in a thread that implied machine washing wool covers so I was curious. I guess even if I can, I can't make a load with two wool interlock covers so I'd do them by hand with my knit wool anyhow.
