birth centers ...

i'm trying to do some research on birth centers. as a first time mama, i'm a little nervious. does any of you more experianced mamas know of any good contacts? i'm looking into a mid-wife or a birthing center ... haha and since we're all due in april, i figure some of the newer mommies want this kinda help too .. thanks so much!!

Joliemama-I'm so thrilled to hear you are young and exited and learning what your options are!(I was 19 when I got preggo w/Ds,)What area are you in?There are so many fantastic resources in this site,just do searches on everything!I had a great midwife and homebirth with my first and even when I miscarried my 2nd pregnancy.All of my births have been at home w/ a midwife,so I am obviously partial to that experience.I do not,however encourage an uneducated home birth.Study on this site as much as you can.Find a(natural)birth class in your area to attend,also a great place/way to make friends for future playdates!I reccomend a Midwife and Doula for birthing anywhere,and involve the father/father figure as much as possible!This is his birth into parenting too.

10 weeks, 3 days!!

i just got back from the doctor ... yup yup yup! i'm a whole wapping 10 weeks and 3 days. i can already tell that my baby's going to be WILD!! *she* was bouncing all over the place for like FIVE minutes!! maybe *she* knew i was looking at her. haha i asked the doctor to leave the dopler thing in me for a minute so that i could "spend time with *her*" haha my dh and doc laughed at me. they said that i spend every second with *her*. it's just not the same. i can't really feel anything but my nausia. haha at least i got to see *her*. wow! i'm so giddy!! i LOVE my baby!!


kindredspirit ~ thank you for your ideas. my dh's mom is pretty scared about a home birth. her logic is that we couldn't get to an emergency area quick enough. maybe if i'm in a birthing room, it'll be a compromise. haha
