General anathesia, what are the risks?

Hi,
My dd had 10 caps and 5 fillings put on when she was nearly 2yo, they used general anathesia, and I was ignorant and didnt realize that the risks were great enough that people actually used other options...
So my question is, what are the risks, and/or why have you chosen not to use GA?
Thanks

Sorry, I don't have an answer for you. I came on the site to determine what would be the best method for having my 4yo ds' cavities filled. We have the choice of nitrous oxide or novacaine. Can anyone tell me where to find information about the pros/cons of each? At least we know he'll have the resin fillings opposed to the mercury ones. (Our dentist only uses the resin. )

Did you check the archives here? There is a topic addressing the issue although I am not sure how intact the thread is for information, but do check it out!
