The View (9/12)

Did anyone watch the show today? They had a viewing party full of moms of babies from 4 - 10 months and several times they showed shots of bottlefeeding. For some reason, I just felt like there was enough to show that they could've just avoided it but made a deliberate choice to show it. HMMM : I think I'm going to have to stop torturing my self & stop watching the show (even though I love Meredith) because obviously they don't get it & don't want to.

I just flipped it on and caught the last 15 minutes after you posted.

So I just saw a bit of the "viewing party" when the went to a commercial break.

Have they done these "viewing parties" before, or was this the first? Why was it all women with young babies? If this was the first time they've done this, it looks to me like this was a special idea, dreamed up specifically to show that their viewing audience contains lots of new moms, and that they bottlefeed! (After all, you couldn't actually have all those new moms in the audience. To disruptive.

If they've only done this "party" for new moms, it kind of reinforces the idea that you have to be housebound when you have a new baby - kind of the opposite idea of what we are promoting with NIP support.

After all, Babs has made several anti-baby comments (regardless of bfing) - I think she really thinks babies don't belong in public.

I watched it this morning (well, actually during nap time, I had it on TIVO) and to tell you the truth, I saw a few positives. Anyway, this was the first "viewing party" and it was a group of moms. They applied to be on the show and requested the View come to their group.

Yes, there were a few bottles shown, but statistically, that is going to be the case when you get 10 babies in a room.

Meredith made a positive comment about pumping, and Elizabeth said that looking at all those babies made her start lactating and put her hands over her breast while laughing. Meridith also made a comment that nursing moms don't have to avoid alcohol. It came up because all the moms were being served food and drinks.

I watched part of it just becuase I wanted to see if there would be any mention on breastfeeding. The part I saw had no mention of it and I hate the show so I stopped watching it

I do think one mommas was nursing. Or maybe I fooled myself into thinking so. I turned it off when one of the mothers asked about when to start spanking.

Nope, I didn't catch it today. I actually flipped by it and paused for a second or two to see what it was about, but then DH wandered by and said "This show sucks, those women are idiots, you know that", and asked me to change it to an intelligent show. :LOL

She did not ask when to start spanking...she sais she was for it and her husband was against it, and she wanted Dr Phils opinion. He was very ANTI spanking, and said how much it ruined parent child trust. He made it very clear spanking did not work and should not be done.

Joy, Merideth and a few of the other gals were very anti spanking as well...there was no one saying hitting a child was a good thing!

I'm not trying to praise the view, but I think it is worth actually watching something before bashing it.
