We're moving (YAY!) into a place with old carpeting that I'd like to replace, but I can't afford wool (or any alternative I've found.) I can have it replaced with conventional and let it air out for awhile, but I've heard that offgassing goes on for years. I might be able to just use the floor underneath, but I'm not sure until I see it.

Also, is an area rug as bad as carpets? Is it the installation process or the carbet fibers themeselves?

WWYD?

Thanks,
Jude
