If we liked Six Feet Under . . .

. . . can you recommend another TV series now on DVD that we might like? We got hooked on the Fishers thru our Netflix and have found that watching a TV series is perfect . . . one hr episodes that you can watch before a baby has to be nursed back to sleep! And we can splurge on weekend nites and watch [gasp] TWO episodes. Sometimes 3 if we're really bad!

We don't watch TV at all -- have never had HBO -- so I don't really know what else is out there (altho I can say I once watched 15 min of Sex in the City while on a flight and I thought it was HORRIBLE. so that's out!)

Only had 2 seasons before it was canceled (WAH!) but it was good.

Just similar in that it involves death...it's more comedic/quirky, revolves around the "reapers".

Dead Like Me was CANCELLED!?! We LOVED that show - SO FUNNY! We only watch "tv" on DVD rented from the video store (no cable or antenna or anything), so we don't know these things. :LOL Man, DH is gonna be bummed.

I LOVE Six Feet Under btw ... Deadwood is a great series ... pretty raw. You might like that OP.

Well, I don't think there's ANYTHING like Six Feet Under, but I love that show and lately I've been watching the first season of Lost and we also like Millenium if you like serial killer sort of stuff .

Thanks for the ideas . . . Sounds like we've got the dark stuff covered! Any suggestions for other series that are just plain good? (Or is the good stuff always tending toward dark?!?) It's not the content of Six Feet Under that's so great for me, but the writing, directing, acting, humor, etc. Keep sending those ideas my way!

I love Queer as Folk. It went for I think 5 seasons & just ended, so there's lots to watch. It's a FANTASTIC drama with realistic lovable (& some hateable) characters. Deffinatley not kid friendly as there's so language & graphic sex. The L Word is good, but I don't know if it's on DVD yet, and it's not as good as QAF anyway. I also loved Dead Like Me and the last season of Huff on Showtime was awesome too. I'm a little fond of Showtime (as if you couldn't tell) & still pissy that Out of Order was canceled.

I'm so depressed that Six Feet Under is over. I've never seen another show that was so good! We watched it through Netflix so I'm happy there's at least one more season for us to watch! Anyway, here are some others we liked:

The L Word - great show, kind of like Sex & the City but with lesbians - I would say this show comes closest to the quality of SFU

I recommend RESCUE ME. They just finished their second season on UPN, but should really be an HBO show. I know the first season is out on dvd. I love this show! Its so real and funny.......and I love Denis Leary
