Red raspberry leaf tea

ive been drinking a Red raspberry leaf tea blend throught this pregnancy ( and my last one as well).. i wanted to share how great red raspberry leaf tea is in pregnancy especially the 3rd trimester.. its a uterine tonifier, as well as full of calcium and other vitamins and minerals essential for a healthy pregnancy.. i love the taste, though many dont.. i usually mix it with nettle and other herbs, like red clover and oatstraw..its an ancient medicine for pregnancy and we should all be drining a mug 3 times a day!!

I get mine from Snowboard Mommy who advertises here at mdc, it has RRL, nettles and alfalfa. Its not bad. I make a big pitcher full of it every couple days and try to drink one huge cup (prob 25-30 oz) every day. When the only other thing you drink is water all day, even pregnancy tea is a treat! :LOL

:LOL How funny...I'm drinking some right now I don't mind the taste. After downing nasty chinese herbs a while back, this stuff is a breeze! My naturopath ordered me to drink a few cups a day in the third tri..

I've got some and my goal is one cup a day, at least, but I'm not reaching it. I just can't seem to think to make it and it needs to steep so long that I have made it and then walked off and forgotten it. Though, it's not bad at room temp.

Mine is just red raspberry leaves I think. I add a little honey to it and dd likes to drink it too (I guess it's okay for her?)

My naturopath advised RRL and stinging nettles (1:1 ratio) three times a day. I make a big pitcher and drink it as iced tea. It tastes better to me cold than hot, although I don't mind the taste at all...but I'm used to drinking some pretty funky teas!

I have been drinking 1 cup of RRL tea everyday since the beginning of pregnancy. I love it. I don't even add honey or sugar to it. How are you all doing with braxton hicks contractions? I guess I should up my intake to 3 cups per day, but I was a little hesitant. I have an herbal book that says to drink 1 cup per day until the last month and then up it to 3 cups. What do you all think???

I've been drinking it too - I quite like the taste as long as I don't forget about it and let it steep 20 minutes (or longer!) I like having any nice hot tea to sip at work, it doesn't matter what. Now my challenge is to remember to have 1 cup morning, afternoon and evening. I usually make 2 out of 3

Is there any reason I shouldn't drink it if I have a high risk of PTL?

ive heard a lot of differnet things.. ive heard its totally afe, but ive also heard that it can bring on labour.. though i dont agree.. i drank it all through my pregnancies and ive never had a contraction until i went into labour.. as your midwife, if you are wondering..an OB probably wouldnt know, but if you dont have a MW i could ask mine and let you know what they say..or there are lots of knowledgeable folks on MDC as well

I've been drinking lots o' pregnancy tea- at first (all during this 100 degree summer!) I'd been drinking it hot, then my neighbor introduced me to it iced (duh!!), and I've been drinking tons of it ever since! I make a big pitcher of it every couple days. Dh and ds love it, too- but I figure they don't have uteri to get overly toned, so it won't matter!

Preg. tea by traditional medicinals contains RRL, strawberry leaf, nettle, spearmint, bitter fennel, rose hip, alfalfa, and lemon verbena. I like it plain!

Drinking my third cup today...

I love the taste too. I am drinking prebagged stuff made by Traditional Medicinals. They use 100% ORGANIC and it has no additives. It's also made with medicinal grade herbs to be most effective. I like it!

I've only heard to keep away from it in the 1st tri but heard that it was safe in the 3rd. Definately ask your m/w and let us know.

I third the endorsement of Traditional Medicinal's Pregnancy Tea. I think it's great, although like MamaFern I enjoy the "earthiness."

I am drinking the pregnancy tea...maybe by Traditional Medicines...or maybe another company? I only drink one cup every other day or so. I need to up my intake, eh? Thanks for the encouragement!

How do y'all make your RRL iced tea? I have the Traditional Medicinals brand and just boiled a big (pasta sized) pot of water and added 4 tea bags. I let it steep for 15 minutes and added about 2 Tbsp. of honey. Do you think that's enough tea for so much water? It ended up making a full pitcher. I want to make sure I'm getting all the benefits of it, yk?

Sorry I can't help you...I use the loose Flora brand and a tea ball to infuse. I have no idea if I'm putting in way too much or too little half the time :LOL Maybe email the manufacturers?

I make a full teapot of hot water, and pour it over 3 teabags in a gallon pitcher and let it steep for 'a while'. Then I almost fill up the gallon pitcher with cold water and refrigerate. No idea if I am diluting it too much, but it looks plenty dark enough, and I drink tons of it during the day (the whole pitcher in a few days) so I'm sure I"m getting the benefits!

Since I posted last, I have been drinking the mom-to-be by yogi tea three times a day or more. Yay for the suggestions. It's especially nice right now b/c I have a head cold.

Just wanted to invite all of you to join the RRL tea tribe at: http://www.mothering.com/discussions...=1#post3835875

I am expecting that most of the tribe members will be from the March 2006 due date club, but we would certainly welcome some earlier birth stories from you November mamas, and the October mamas as well!
