My baby is in an "oblique" postion

Hi all,
I had my 36 week appointment today. No surprise to me, the baby's head is not at my midline. I'd call it a diagonal position, with baby's head to the right of and below my navel, and its little feet beneath my left breast. DS (2 1/2) was identical to this, and he came out just fine. His head was a bit slanty for a few days though LOL.

Anyway, the OB called it an oblique position, and she seemed concerned about it. She said we can scoot the baby over if needed (she motioned like she was doing an external version), but I assured her that my son had been in the same position and that I had no trouble delivering him.

Is her concern valid? Or am I right on in thinking everything will be okey dokey?

Well, if you've already had a baby who was in that position, it stands to reason you can do it again. Obstetricians, unfortunately, are trained to think of anything other than completely transverse & anterior as an emergency waiting to happen.

Yep, what the previous poster said. Maybe if you practice some optimal foetal positioning it will help anyway.

My baby was in a position close to that (a little more sideways) up until 36w4d...then he turned down and engaged way WAY down. My water broke 3 days later and he was born. I kind of think staying sideways like he was prevented having a more premature birth. Even 37 weeks was a bit too early, IMO. I would not be inclined to attempt any kind of version until much closer to 40 weeks.
