Flipping the baby

Thread Starter
I had back labor with Ben, no one mentioned that he was posterior until after he came out.

if I do the hands and knees thing to flip the baby, but the baby isn't posterior, is there a danger of turning it to posterior? is it too late to flip the baby once he's already causing back labor?

No, you can't turn the baby to posterior if you are on your hands and knees. The back of the baby's head is the heaviest part of his/her body and will stay towards your stomach if you are on your hands and knees.
You can definitely turn a baby if he/she is already causing back labor! There are a number of different positions/techniques you can do to turn an OP baby while in labor. Have you visited www.spinningbabies.com? That has info on turning OP babies. Another book you may want to get is The Birth Partner by Penny Simkin. It has a ton of info about turning OP babies as well.

chiropractic during pregnancy is wonderful for encouraging babe to stay anterior (opposite of posterior).

i second the rec for spinningbabies.com, too.

peaceful pregnancy to you...
