We welcomed our baby daughter, Greer, into our family early Tuesday morning at 2:29 am. She's either 8 pounds even or 8 pounds, 4 ounces (DP and I each heard something different)--will have to find where our midwife wrote it down. :LOL Labor was short and very intense. Overall it seemed more difficult than my son's birth (which was 15 hours), but less exhausting. Contractions started taking some work to get through around 12:45am. The last hour was really hard. I did a lot of walking and rhythmic vocalization to get through it. I went in the shower and sat on the birth ball for a contrction or 2, but I didn't like not being able to walk, so I got out. There wasn't time to set up the tub, so Greer was born on land. My water broke toward the end and Ingrid, our midwife, threw down some chux pads for me to walk on. I got down on one that was between 2 rooms on hands and knees and started pushing. DP got down on the floor in front of me. I grabbed him around the waist and pushed her out in a few contractions. I don't necessarily *recommend* having a baby in a doorway by the way--I didn't think she would come that fast!
