Allergy question

Hi! I'm trying to figure out if my baby has food intolerances/allergies. Currently he is exclusively bf and is 14 weeks old. We went through a period where he had green stools and a red rash and was extremely gassy, so I decided to cut out dairy to see if that helped. It seemed to make things better, but then I fell off the wagon and his gas returned but his butt stayed rash-free and his poop is mustardy. I decided to do the elimination diet to see if I could help his gas, but it occured to me after reading several pages of posts here that he doesn't really have any other symptoms. Do you think it's worth it to eliminate everything? Should I just get rid of dairy? Any ideas what else might be causing his gas?

Any help would be highly appreciated!

I would try completely eliminating milk again first - only because you said that seemed to help the first time around. It is really hard to stay on the wagon, but so worth it in the long run if you can figure out the allergen and stay away from it - you might even help him outgrow the allergy sooner!

Also, the symptoms you describe could possibly be a foremilk/hindmilk imbalance. If you have a really strong let down, it could be that your baby is filling up on the more watery milk produced a the beginning of a feeding and not getting to the richer, fattier stuff as the breast empties. The solution to this is to not switch breasts till the first one is empty. This might mean using only one breast per feeding if he's done before your breast feels empty. You can go do a search in the life with a babe topic to find out more about this - I probably didn't get all the facts exactly straight.
