with NO entention to stop any time soon!!!!

Zachary is 22 months old today and our nursing relationship has never been stronger! ***YEAH*** though the support I have and get, well is sooooooo lacking. He has texture issues so is just about 98% breastfeed, gets little bits of food, has never had dairy in his life and well I think that is a great thing...I just had to share!

Kudos to you!!

Your ds sounds a lot like mine, because of a short frenulum he has been slow to be able to move food around his mouth well and textures and bite sizes were an issue for a long time, we still have to watch him carefully. He was nursing up to 8x a day at that age and to this day hasn't had dairy.

It's so awesome you are sensitive to his particular needs and recognize that continuing to nurse is a wonderful thing for him. You know you can always get some encouragement here where we know what a great thing you are doing, for your ds who especially needs it. Can you imagine what happens when kids like ours, with solids issues and dairy sensitivities, are not given the opportunity to grow out of their issues and are not supported nutritionally with breastmilk while they get more skilled at eating solids? They could be such miserable little guys. Yay for moms like you who know better!!

Right on! My DD nursed for 35 months. I remember she nursed more from 2 to 2-1/2 than at any other time! And then one day, she just never asked to nurse again and that was that. The rewards are well worth the extended nursing!
