Painful lump on breast 2 weeks after weaning

Thread Starter
I weaned my daughter 2 weeks ago. Now I have a painful lump on the lower part of one breast. It is not visible, and is painful only when it is pressed. Is there anything I need to do about this? Is this normal, or is it something that I should worry about?

Uh oh! Is it mastitis? My MIL developed mastitis when nursing her second child- if that's what it is I think hot compresses on the breast may help.

I wish I knew more. I would definitely call your doctor for more advice on what it is.

Have you tried putting cabbage leaves on it? It really helped with me when my ds weaned. Just cover the area or your whole breast with cabbage leaves inside a bra when you go to bed (you can do it during the day as well if you don't mind smelling like cabbage :LOL )

I had painful spots in one breast when I weaned. It passed after a couple days. I think maybe they were plugged ducts?
