this is the right place to post this!

My next -door neighbor just had his lawn sprayed. I had no notice, just a guy who handed me an info sheet and told me to keep our windows closed.

They used Tri Weed Killer #19400 according to the info, and I was wondering if anyone knew about it, like how toxic is it etc. We also have a little veggie garden right next to his lawn, and I'm worried about how it will affect what's growing there- we don't use chemicals on it of any kind.

I don't have any information about it, however, if they advise you to shut your windows, its probably pretty nasty.

Our neighbor across the street and down a house uses chem lawn. It looks pretty silly now since their lawn is kelly green, and everyone elses is pretty much dead! :LOL

I would certainly be talking to my neighbors about this, especially if you have little ones who play outside and you grow your FOOD near their lawn. At least you could have had a few days warning to come up with something to protect you more than closing your windows :

Thanks for the replies. It is mostly the garden I worry about- the kiddos will be playing at the park for the next few days to keep them away from it. It is a pretty silly thing, their lawn is weed-free already so I don't see the point.

Check with your town as there may be an ordinance allowing a neighbor who will be affected to say "no you do not have permission to poison your yard and thus ours", though of course it won't be in those words.

You may be able to stop the application of such poisons that can also affect you--and if they're saying "close your windows" they've as much as admitted that it will affect you.
