I used to teach in md and we gave the MSPAP test at the end of 3,5,8th grades. I taught third grade and we would literally have children in tears because they couldn't even figure out what they were being asked to do. 
It was horrible. I personally would have kept my own child home. So much pressure was put on the kids. It trickled down from the superintendant all the was down to the poor kids. I could go on about it but it still makes me ill to think about what they put those kids through. Screw the testing.
