Yea, I read she went into labor early, so they did it today.
It is sad. It makes me sad because she most likely chose to have it done [if you believe magazine and tabloid reports] while some of us have no choice, or find ourselves thinking we have no choice. :|

I thought she wasn't due for a few weeks yet? Seeing as she went into labour early, I'm going to give her the benefit of the doubt and assume she got - erm, "full medical care" with her pregnancy and delivery. (How's that for a euphemism?)

I read that she checked in to the hospital yesterday at 6am to have the c-section. I guess we'll find out the truth soon enough.

poor girl, she's a trainwreck. What do you say a week before we hear the harrowing story and how the baby was saved and mom got a bonus of a tummy tuck right there in the OR? (and all the 16yold in the world agree and plan to do the same with their babies) It was probably due to an STD

Does anyone remember Ann Jillian who had a baby boy about 14 years ago. She had a caesarean also, and the doctor said that he saved the baby because it had the cord wrapped around its neck. Really! How often does that happen? Is that life threatening, or merely a complication?

No, she is no stranger to plastic surgery, and she will need it now. But you are correct, she is so vain!

The fact remains that she had the birth she had, for whatever reasons she may not have wanted to share with the public. Maybe she had a valid medical reason for the surgical birth- maybe she was misinformed or scared, or maybe she chose one for vain or selfish reasons. It doesn't really make a difference at this point, as nobody can change the past.

Last I heard, mom and baby were both healthy and breastfeeding.

I would hate to think that friends of mine were talking about me and my c/s like this without knowing the entire story.

The fact is, we will probably never know the whole story behind her c/s, nor are we entitled to know it. I for one would hate to judge another mommy over her c/s when she could have had many valid reasons for it.

Glad to hear that Mom and baby are doing well and breastfeeding!

She was quoted in last week's US mag (ducking head in shame because I read this) as saying "I don't know why but somehow I think surgery is in my future. My mom and the women in my family have a lot of problems with pain. Pain is okay for some women, but I just cannot handle it" (paraphrased from memory)

I haven't read the latest story of her birth but she had an entire three page spread about her plans for birth last week and mentioned NOTHING about pre-eclampsia or breech birth.

I have to believe that a C-sec was inevitable due to her distorted beliefs about birth and I am saddened that others may emulate her attitude. Bah!

I think having a section to avoid pain i whack. Dude, it HURTS to have your belly sliced open and sewn back up.

But maybe there is more to it. And good for her for breastfeeding her baby!!!

I've never had any problems with pre-eclampsia, but she may not have known her baby was breech. DS1 was head-down until I went into labour, then he turned himself into frank breech position at the last minute. You know, that "baby's job is to rotate" thing? He took it a little too seriously...

Maybe Britney's baby wasn't breech earlier.

you know, what upsets me the most is the image of birth she gives to all her young followers. Some of these younger girls take what she says as reality, and they may now think the 'pain' of birthing isn't worth it and they can just schedule a c/s, "like britney". It's so sad. On the other end, there's those who had c/s, and wish it hadn't been so.

Actually, in the grocery store yesterday there were at least 3 glossy tabloids all screaming out about "BRitney`s baby drama." Star, US & something else. All 3 said she had a breech baby & had been having signs of pre E the week before delivery. (yes, I was in a long line and had nothing else to do)

I agree there may be more to it, but I also read that quote in Us magazine : and it really bothered me.
It really burns me up to hear of people thinking that they'll just schedule a c-section and take the "easy way out". I had to have two c-sections. It is not painless. It is not easy. The recovery can be quite painful, as Britney will find out, for example, the first time she has to sneeze.

Don't get me wrong, C-sections are a blessing to those of us who would otherwise be unable to have a vaginal birth (I have a uterine malformation). But when there are people have no medical complication to preclude delivering normally, and they still choose an elective cesarean, well that's just wrong!
