Warning about using dental sealants - Page 2

I'm glad I found this thread. My daughter just went for her first dental visit a couple of weeks ago (no cavities - woo hoo!). The dentist mentioned getting sealants on her molars to help protect them until she's older. She has another appointment in December when we'll discuss it (by then the molars should be all the way in), so I wanted to research it before making a decision. Thanks for the link!

geez...i cant believe that happened! not cleaning your teeth fully before the sealants'

so i have a question...these sealants you guys are talking about, are they like a solid thing that goes over the tooth, or is it something they paint onto their teeth like paint?

Is doing sealants preferable to fillings? I have been SCOURING for info on this subject.....

My dd has two tiny brown specks on her front tooth, and we have really been working onit. it is staying the same and seems to even be getting a little better. if it is a little decay, as i think it might be, could we get her a cleaning and then do a sealant instead of a filling?

My dentist told me (and this is the first time I have heard this before) that black decay is decay that has stoped. White is active and you REALLY need to watch out for red. Shrug. Seemed kinda odd but thought I would share.
