what should I be called?

I'll be volunteering in my ds kindergarten class starting in a couple of weeks. I was thinking, what should the kids call me? My first name? Mrs. K_____? or just Mrs. K? Personally, they're all fine with me. I dont want to confuse the kids because all the teachers in the school are referred to with a salutation, but then, I'm not a teacher.

Thoughts?

TIA

You'll probably be called 'ds's mom'!! :LOL The teacher will probably ask how you want to be introduced or introduce you in a certain way. If you don't care, anything will work. Here, there is a lot of Miss First Name instead of Mrs. Last Name for volunteers or other non-teachers in the classroom.

:LOL shelbean, I was thinking the same thing! I'm always "Liam's Mom" or "Emma's Mom." But when I volunteered in ds' kinder class the kids we given my first name (Leah) and the teacher called me by my first name. Kids differentiate. We have similar issues in our neighborhood, where some of the adults insist on the children using their titles and surnames while dh and I just use our casual first names and the first names of other adults when we refer to them.

You should be Mrs. _____, when addressed, but everyone will know you are LIAM'S MOM!

Congratulations on being a class mom! What an honor and what a joy...I always did this!

When I worked with elementary school kids, I was Miss Firstname, because my last name was difficult for many of them to pronounce (I worked with language/hearing impaired kids). When I moved to high school, they called me Miss Lastname.

I think I like Mrs. Laura (my firstname). Why didnt I think of that? Thank goodness I have you ladies to make up the missing parts of my brain! :LOL

You're right, I probably will end up being "nathan's mom". Ah well, I'm used to being "someones mom" as opposed to my name. I like it.

I've always told my kids friends to call me by my first name, it just feels better to me. But I also always felt in a school setting there should be a little bit more, YK?

It has been fun so far, I was introduced as Robin, Sara's mom and some kids call me Robin and some Sara's mom. Both okay by me

I bring my 10 month old DS with my in an Ergo, so far its worked out okay, my DD is the only one interested much in him so far...
