So sad... Leah Remini tries to get more press by tearing down Brooke Shields

This wouldn't bother me so much if it weren't hurting mothers out there who hear these idiots.

In promotion interviews for her new season, Leah comes out and agrees with Tom (she's a Scientologist also), saying "I was disturbed when I saw that interview with Brooke because I personally didn't have those feelings with my daughter" and that "I wouldn't trust someone who had those feelings with a baby".

Then she goes on to add "Do I think she needs help? Yes. Can you take a pill for something that deep? That dark? The answer is no. I got through it, but I didn't get through it by taking a pill."

You know what? My experience wasn't that I felt fat after birth (as Leah says she did/does), or that I had serious, serious PPD, or that I had a colicky baby. This does not lead me to believe that others do not have those experiences! Grr!

I want to spew 4 letter words that aren't acceptable here. How can she say she 'got through it' after just saying, 'I personally didn't have those feelings'? If you didn't have those feelings and don't have something supportive to say, shut the hell up.

And the bit about not trusting her with a baby? My midwife told me 20% of moms get PPD; are they all not to be trusted with their babies? That's bullhooey! Grrrrrr!

I really hate that they're all doing such a disservice to the mothers out there. Aren't you supposed to use fame for good and not misinformation?

Fine, they don't agree with it. Keep your mouth shut and let others be. At least that's how I feel...I'm not gonna say anything about my feelings on their religion, so they shouldn't spout off either.

What a sad little she is.

Her show sucks.

Did anyone see her on "Ellen"? She was going on and on about not wanting to take her daughter to the park, out to the store, out shopping, etc. because of something like 'why should I? germs, sharing toys, people touching her . . . ' saying something about how she'd rather keep her (15 MONTH OLD) child in the confines of home where it's "safe" instead.

HELLO? Her daughter is being deprived. Clearly she is not right in the head!

I don't know any of the details of what Brooke Sheild went through but to cast aside women who struggle with something they have no control over and to add misinformation to their struggle is outrageous! :

I did see that. She kept saying that she wanted her daughter in a "controlled environment" all the time and that she only went to the park with her daughter once. I thought that meant that her daughter only went to the park once, but then she said "I asked her nanny 'is this all we do? doesn't she ever get bored? we just sit here? and that little boy just took her shovel!' ". I just started laughing. She might not like taking her daughter to the park, but her nanny certainly spends more time out than she does!

Hell I'll even say if they disagree with using antidepressants for themselves well fine they don't have to use them. But to make statements like that about someone is wrong. I can't say that I've had bad thoughts about my newborn but oh I've had some about my toddler. I would never never act on them but should I not be trusted with her for that reason? What a bitch seriously. Like Virginia Woolf said (paraphrasing) we don't need to worry about men tearing us down because we can do it to each other just fine.

Does anyone know, by chance, how to send an email or letter to Brooke Shields? I have been wanting to for a while now to let her know how much us PPD Moms appreciate her having the courage to tell her story.

That just saddens me for people to judge her like they have. She came out with truths of ppd in the raw. People don't understand how bad it can be tell they have been through it. I didn't understand tell it happened to me and it's devistating. I will never watch that show again people relly disapoint me. It's one thing to believe in what you believe in its another to degrade another. Shield is a very coragious women to addmit what happened to her and to ask for help. I admire her.
lots of love crissy

I don't have that info, just wanted to let you know I was thinking of doing the same thing.

Sharing her story took so much guts and I know she is helping so many women who think they are alone in their struggles.

I just googled it and found two fanmail addresses for her. I confirmed them on a couple different sites so I hope they are the right ones.

WTF does Remini think Shields should have done? I mean, if a pill wouldn't help and she cna't be trusted with a baby. I guess she wold have liked for Shields to give the baby up for adoption and just kill herself, since a pill wouldn't help.

I never understand that statement. Obviously, pills DO HELP a lot of people. What, do Remini and Cruise et al think pills are just a placebo? WTH? They very clearly have a tremendously HELPFUL effect on the majority of people who take them. WHAT IS SO WRONG WITH THAT??!!
Wow...that's just so wrong.

First Leah says, "I personally didn't have those feelings with my daughter..."

THEN she says, "I got through it, but I didn't get through it by taking a pill."

Got through WHAT?? You did not HAVE those feelings. Brooke Shields is a well spoken, intelligent, beautiful (inside & out!) & courageous person. Leah Remini is a two bit actress who does not belong in Hollywood. Did you see that she demanded a raise on her crappy tv show?? Egads!

If you believe in Scientology, fine. If you want to forego pills that have proven to help people, fine. But keep it to yourself. I would hate to think of the hard work Brooke has done, both to heal herself & to bring PPD out into the open, being shot down by ignorant people.

I've never liked Brooke Shields as an actress, but I feel for her & respect her work as a mother.
Shame on Tom....& Leah Remni?? Talk about crappy actress...

Brook Shields hawks formula.

...just a FYI... having nothing to do with PPD or antidepressants or this whole crummy scientology fiasco- but she has lent her name and image to marketing formula.

Grody. Why would someone do that? Before I read the article I thought her pic was going to be on the can. :LOL
