hose to fill birthing tub?

I went to purchase a hose today to fill the kiddy pool I bought to birth in... and all the hoses say "Do not run hot water through this hose'. Is there a special type of hose I'm supposed to buy? Or can I just ignore this warning? What do you other mamas use to fill your pool?

Ignore the hot water warning

I attended a homebirth earlier this year where the DH bought one of those flathoses...it said nothing about what water temp you could or could not run through it and it worked beautifully. Now the connection piece for pump didn't fit, but he got one that did.

It might have to do with the end fittings being made of brass which contains lead. Not sure though, you could always use hose made for washing machines.

we bought a hose that specifically says it is safe to drink from, but nothing about what temp water is okay. we used the same kind with dd and ran hot water through it just fine..

As long as it's the "safe for drinking" hose then you're good. The others are treated with carcinogenic chemicals. In my experience those are always white, labeled for RV use, etc., and say not to run hot water through them (but it's fine for the occassional use it will get for birth).

We bought a hose that was for drinking RV (camping) use. Usually they are white or yellow at least all the ones I've seen.

Some hoses contain trace elements of lead, that's why the warm water warning is on there, so DON"T use it if there is a warning.

I posted the same issue a few weeks ago and we were directed to and found hoses for RVs at Walmart. They don't contain lead and are able to dispense warm water without any issue. DH went on line and determined the type of hose we needed was one with an FDA rating and poly (something) material.

Sorry for not having the specific detail, but look through this thread at my old post.
