wicking at leg solution?

I tried sewing a VB AIO and used some stripy knit material over the pull to spice things up. I had thought that I had read this suggestion here before, but it wicks terribly at the legs since they roll in.

Is there any way to salvage this pretty dipe with out having to tear the whole thing apart? FOE maybe? Also, If I wanted to do this in the future how can I alter my VB pattern to prevent this problem.

Any advice would be much welcomed!

Thanks.

I don't want to read your post and not respond. Ack! I hate it when a pretty diaper doesn't work. You might try water-proofing spray on the outer knit layer, but it is iffy whether it will work. Maybe bind the legs with FOE or fleece.

I don't know of a way to make a VB AIO with a decorative outer layer. The AIOs that I have seen with pretty outside fabric layers are AIO shells with a separate soaker pad. Usually the shell is serged or bound with FOE and lined with microfleece. Using a separate soaker pad keeps the wetness well away from the edges of the diaper and helps avoid wicking. Since the VB AIO has absorbant body layers and is designed to have the legs roll in, using a decorative layer on the outside pretty much assures wicking.

Very Baby AIOs made with a solid PUL outer totally rock, they are so reliable. Have you tried the boring yet tried and true version?

Maybe Jessica aka Moonbucket aka Very Baby will post some ideas, she does visit this forum.

It's really hard to use a print on the outside and not have it wick. I encourage my licensees to use only polyester or poly/cotton blend prints on the outside if they want to offer these as that will reduce the risk of wicking. Stick a cotton on the outside and you're just going to have wet legs.

A waterproofing spray, like Nikwax may help but probably not.
