What was your favourite part of your birth experience?

Bar holding and seeing your baby that is :LOL

For my first it was getting into the water and falling asleep during my rushes :LOL

With my second it was definitely the pushing.

My third went SOOOO fast (all of 5 mins) so it would have to be the part where I got to stop shaking from the adrenalin :LOL

So what was your favourite part of your birth?

I would say afterwards, having all these wonderful women (MW, MW's assistant, the nurse who came to stitch me up) and my DH care for me and my baby. I felt so special and loved!

i'd have to say walking around my neighbourhood during labour and laughing at one particular yard that is full (literally.. there's no grass) of little gnomes and other figurines.. with my dh

and after.. realizing that i did it all at home!! so glad i didn't transfer like i did with my son

1. when she was crowning, I constantly held my hand at the top of her head, I felt her progesss that way. and then I caught her myself when she was born.
2. the fact that the mw didn't make it in time and that it was just dh and I for the whole experience.

I absolutely cannot pick a favourite between these 2.

my absolute favorite part? Knowing that my second child was indeed coming out of my vagina, the way her sister should have. ...or maybe it was the way my midwives respected my feelings and trusted me to trust my intuition instead of doubting and questioning anything and everything I had to say. ...or maybe it was the way I felt a strong spiritual connection to all other women who had ever given birth before. .......hmmm....
I think mostly my favorite part was that *I* did it, *I* gave birth to my daughter, without having to go to a hospital, without anyone's help (Two midwives were there, but they did not do anything I didn't ask them to do. Mostly they sat at the foot of the bed and quietly watched me do my own thing.), and most importantly for me, without some stupid doctor there!

my favorite part of my son's (home) birth was the people that were there with me... my AWESOME midwife, her apprentice and another assistant, my husband, and my mom and MIL. they were all wonderful and it was so good to have them surrounding me instead of doctors and nurses in scrubs.

another favorite part was being allowed to "sleep" for close to two hours while i was almost completely dilated but there was a lip on my cervix. i know i never could have done that in the hospital - so while i hope i never have to deal with that again, it was a favorite part.

After it was over. The exhilaration of knowing I had done it.

At the birth of my first son, it's my dh saying, in an awed voice, "Oh my God, honey" as the baby's head came out.

At my second birth, I enjoyed pushing (for all of five minutes) -- I was on my hands and knees and felt super-strong and animalistic -- it was awesome! I also enjoyed having a bowl of cereal in my very own bowl in my very own bed after he was born

Mine was the same with both babies...

Pushing. I never feel as in control, focused, or powerful as I did at those moments. I just was in exactly the right place at the right time - I knew what to do & just felt fantastic (other than a little pain - hahahaha) I never have felt that in tune with my own mind and body. It sounds silly written out, but that is the best I can explain it.

Spending most of the labor alone on all fours in the shower. there was something very special about this time for me.

I was on all fours with my son (second birth) and I agree - it feels VERY good to push in that position.

After ds' head came out, he was still partially inside me, and I could both feel him kicking inside and hear him crying on the outside. He was, in my mind, literally halfway between fetus status and newborn status, and expressing both halves quite well! :LOL

(Why was he crying? Well, judging by him since then, he was probably cold. He manages to get cold in the summer - and hates it!)

I'd have to say the last part of pushing - so powerful and intense, like balancing on a unstoppable freight train speeding down a mountain and never once doubting your ability to ride it to the finish. - Feeling the baby descending through the birth canal, crowning, and finally, most intensely - the complete and shocking rush like pure energy (that word surge finally made sense to me in that moment, LOL) as she turned and slid from my body. I was so absorbed in processing the overwhelming intensity of that sensation that I swear it took a surprised moment for me to realize what I was taking that was being pressed into my arms, lol. Totally incredible.

when the baby came out and it stopped hurting!

I did not have a favorite part. I guess when I got the baby out.

There was a patch in the middle, when I could really feel contractions, and they kept coming regularly (a triumph) and I had to concentrate through them, and they were so intense, and I was doing all those labour things - rocking, etc. I really felt like a labouring woman - it was fun!

Mine was when they put warm blankets on my tummy while I was pushing. (That was the start of the happiest memory I have to date!) I was thinking, oh my god it can't be the end of this!! (I labored for 50 hours, induction, high blood pressure) Then the doctor said, REACH DOWN AND GRAB YOUR BABY!!! And, I got my hands under his little arms and grabbed him, and the first thing I did was look at his sweet face. That was the best, it still makes my eyes well up when I think or talk about it!

Aside from the incredible high afterward, I have very vivid memories of resting for a few minutes on the bed, looking out the second story window at the incredible day. Brilliant blue July skies, warm but not hot, the breeze blowing the trees. Knowing that I was going to meet my daughter very soon. I will never forget that.

My absolute favorite moment was when my (then) 9 yr old came over to me rubbed my leg ( while my ob was repairing a small tear) and said " you did a really good job mom I just wanted to let you know that". I think my OB about cried too!! FYI I had a hospital birth induced labor 21 hrs my older 2 sons were there for alot of the labor they have requested that they get to be present with "any more babies I decide to have".

My favorite part was that I actually did it at home. I still cant believe that some times. Its just awesome...
