I made my first cloth diaper (pics)

It was meant for Miss Sofia, my 18 mo old.. so I could test it out before I made a bunch for Pip (baby due Dec 5th), but I think it's too small for the big girl.
It's a pocket diaper.. so I can stuff it with whatever sort of soaker I'll need.
I didn't have a pattern... but I tried to copy one I saw online. It was the very basic all in one, and I came pretty close to it by drafting my own pattern looking at pictures of the diaper.
I ordered a honeyboy pattern 2 days ago... obviously I couldn't wait for it. I'll definitely be trying the pattern when it comes, though.

I'll try it on Sofia when she's done with breakfast... but I really do think it's too small. It fits the monkey, though!

Here's my girlie in it... it is a bit snug, but it DOES fit. There are a couple of tweaks I'm thinking of making for the next one. It needs a tad more height, and maybe the front tabs could be longer (and this is only because I'd like to NOT see the velcro strip!)

I am pleased to announce that she has peed in it... it didn't leak, AND the outer fleece is still dry!! now lets see how it stands up to washing!

I also love the inner fleece that you found. Such nice colours.

Awesome diaper. Maybe you should send that honeyboy pattern right back unopened, I don't think you need it.

That is sooo cute! Good job on your first diaper! I had a question though. What kind of fleece did you use on the inner vs the outer? I am still confused as to what kind of fleece to use. I've bought some anti-pill 100%poly fleece, but I don't know if that would work. I also have some blizzard fleece. Any suggestions?

That was actually cheap fleece from Hancock fabrics. It was th heaviest they had in store. I bought that as my "practice" fleece because I ordered malden mills windpro... but didn't want to waste any if I totally screwed up. I didn't even think it'd work... but it didn't leak. I put a 4 layer sewn flannel soaker inside.

I'll still stick with the MM fleece for my non-practice dipes because it seems like everyone likes it better.. but when I try a new pattern at least I know I won't be wasting even the cheap fleece because it worked just fine.

The inside, I know you can use microfleece.. but I used flannel because you can find cuter prints. The microfleece is supposed to wick the moisture right away from baby, though. The flannel stays wet.

Thanks for the info. I'm off to go pick up some microfleece from joanns, they have it half off right now! But i'm still not sure if the regular fleece they have will work on the outside. Guess i'll have to wait and see.
