I am having such severe oversupply and its making my bubs miserable.. I normally have ALOT of milk but this is just horrible.. I am full of blocked ducts and can just feel mastitis coming on..

I need suggestions on a pump.. I have used an ameda one hand it was ok... tried a avent isis it was too big for my smaller areola and nipple.. it pulls in too much of my breast tissue and HURTS..

Aside from that I DONT want to spend a fortune I just need something to get me past this so I can pump a bit before I feed him to alleviate the foremilk hindmilk imbalance happeneing.

My toddler is even nursing for me and its not helping much!

Yikes.. holy dairy queen I have become! :LOL

Oh and I cannot hand express AT all....lol so thats not an option..

This is the one I registered for. Haven't gotten it yet, but it seems "middle of the road" as far as price goes, and I've heard good things about it:

I like that it has the electric/battery powered option.

If you get a new Isis, it should have a petal insert that should help w/ the size problems. But maybe the one you tried had that in it? It's a squishy silicone insert thingie. The Ameda sometimes comes w/ one as well. My sister has te Medela single one hand pump and I think she liked it. I liked the Ameda and Isis both. I have a Purely Yours now. I worked full-time w/ my first and had a Medela PIS, loved it, but got the PY when I went back to work after #2 and liked it even more. They're not really worth the money unless you plan on doing a heck of a lot of pumping though.

I can't hand express for anything either. My sister even demonstrated for me and I just can't do it!

Wic

Do you qualify for WIC? If you do you can get a pump for free. If not the AVENT ISIS is very good and has great reviews. I'm a working mom so I use a hospital grade medela for work but in the car or away from home I use the avent. Just remember that your body resumed to demand. So if you pump and nurse you'll only make more. I suggest using a cold compress and latting nature take it's course, your supply and demand issue will eventually even out.

Good Luck

And of course, don't forget the cabbage leaves as a super cheap solution.

It worked for me with DS1. I had massive engorgement due to pumping too much in the first couple of weeks, and the cabbage leaves brought it down to plain engorgement (canteloupes rather than watermelons).

I was going to also suggest the avent, but see that you had tried that already. I have heard a LOT of great things about the whisperwear pump. YOu can actually wear it under you clothes. Though, now I'm not 100% on the name of it. An LC friend of mine loves it and says it's super gentle on the breast. I believe it has a few different settings.

I have been intrigued by the Whittlestone Breast Expresser Pump. Have not had a chance to try one though.

I have the Avent Isis and the Medela Pump in Style and like both okay. Have you tried putting a warm, wet washcloth over your breast before pumping with the Isis? I wonder if that would help?

For hand expression I do best when I am in a bathtub of warm water with my breast submerged as much as possible.

Hope you get relief soon!

I use an Evenflo pump. I like the one I can just plug into the wall and feel like a dairy cow! :LOL I know that it comes with an adapter so that it can be used for different sized breasts. They aren't expensive either, and as long as your kids don't loose the part that creates suction, it works great. I hope you get some relief soon.

I thought of another thing about hand expression--when I am giving it a go in the bathtub I don't put my hand in the shape of a "C" and squeeze. Instead I massage my breast tissue moving from the outside toward the nipple. If I come to a hard spot I just camp out my hand there so the hard spot is between my hand and my nipple and I gently press until the milk stops flowing. Then I go back to just generally masaging the area. Hope you are feeling better!

OH OUCH! I'm sorry about the thrush!!!!!!! Jack and I had that at 4 wks pp.....OUCH OUCH OUCH!

I ended up using Lotrimin between feedings (one sided feeder by then) and having to use a warm baby wash cloth to clean it off, which hurt like hell too, but soothed the pain in between feedings.

Nystatin did NOTHING, Diflucan knocked it out (of course Jack had it too)

and if your on anti-b's for the mastisis, watch out for more thrush of course! Yougert and acidopholus.

YOu have my sympathy, I'm praying not to get either one this time.
