yesterday dp, dd and i went to our first of four seattle seahawks football games. dp and i both love, love, love football. and i knew that dd would enjoy the rowdy crowd, yelling and loud music. we've been looking forward for weeks.
so we pack up and drive down to pick up the trolley. we take advantage of the stroller to gain easy access to the stadium. we roll up the ramp. dd is chattering and dp is loving his new seahawks sweat shirt. we find our seats and then go to leave the stroller at guests services. the woman there tells me that they have a mother's room should i need it, which ordinarily i wouldn't have even listened to but dd really needs to nurse well because she accidentally ate soy the day before and should stick to bm all day.
the guys sitting around our seats are great even if they're a bit drunk. they don't peep when dd sprinkles water on them or kicks while trying to crawl along the seats. but she starts to get fussy so i put her in the sling so she can see better. she really likes this as long as i'm standing. so i'm standing and bouncing and watching the game, which is great for me since the guy two rows below me is standing and cheering and i can see better. soon i'm getting yelled at by a woman two rows behind me. i tell her that i'm standing to keep the baby happy. she tells me that she left her baby with a sitter. which was good since she was drunk. she yells at me to go to the aisle is i want to stand and once again that her baby is at home with a sitter. i shout back that i'm real sorry about that (the baby being at the sitter) and refrain from adding that i enjoy spending time with my whole family. she continues on about sitters and babies, but i had quit listening. it's just not worth it to me.
so dd and i sit down and i decide to try a bit of bfing. i'm a pretty discreet nip-per and wearing a nursing tank, but i figure that it won't work and i'll end up int he little mother's room annoyed that i'm missing that game. but dd is really hungry and tired and latches right on. we nurse for most of the second quarter, all of half time and the third quarter and part of the fifth quarter. we even switch sides, twice.
no one says a word.
not even the woman who yelled at me earlier. she was who i thought would say something. the guys sitting next to me even continue talking to me and dp about the game.
i am not a lepar!
dd loves the game after her nap. she claps and yells and high-fives. she kicks her feet all the way bac down the ramp after the game, trying to chant along with the rowdy fanboys. dp is giddy, and i'm remembering how much i love football.
then about half-way down the ramp, a woman says to me that i'm really brave bringing my baby. i tell that it's not really a big deal. i have a good stroller, use a sling and bfing eliminates bottles. besides dd loves the noise and men. she laughs and tells me she hopes to be the one with the baby one day. she totally makes up for the woman who yelled at me earlier.
i can't wait for our next game!!!
