I think Jane Semour (don't know if I'm spelling that correctly, she was "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman") was well into her 40s when she had her twins? She wrote a fascinating book about the whole experience. Anyways, congratulations to Holly Hunter

Other older moms . . .

Susan Sarandon was 45 when she gave birth to her youngest.

Jerry Hall gave birth to her fourth at 42.

Geena Davis had twins at 47.

Kim Basinger gave birth at 44.

Adrienne Barbeau gave birth to twins at 51.

Beverly D'Angelo gave birth to twins at 49.

Ain't nothing wrong with using science to help. Some of us have no choice.

Amen.

And for the record, my grandmother got pregnant with my mother when she was 45 back in the '49, so it might be with the help of science and then again it might not be.

The odds of twins go up a lot as we age. I like her a lot. I really wish her the best.

Congratulations to Holly!

According to the Guiness Book of World Records, the oldest woman confirmed to have given birth was 57 and had a little girl in Glendale, CA in 1957.

Hope for all of us.

WOW - kind of a snarky comment - not my judgment call
Pretty uncaring towards the Mamas here that used "science" to get their babes :

who cares show it happened - I'm happy for her

I didn't know this! I love these women!

My maternal grandmother had her last babe (of 10 surviving) at age 46 ... paternal grandmother had her last (of 12 surviving) at age 48. All well before scientific help ... though my mom's childbearing years ended at age 36 because she was sterilized without her consent. Hooray for science indeed. Congrats to ALL mothers is what I say!
