Shamelessly showing off (with pics!)

Okay, so I've had a good little run. The advice from a few people to get samples of the fleece I was going to buy paid off. The advice on what kind of needle to be using with PUL paid off and Jenniebug, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for that recent link to the free longies and butt sweater instruction site... those instructions were MUCH better than the other ones I found.

So, while I made these Side Aplixing diapers, wool longies and butt sweater, there's no way they would have turned out as well as they did without this forum thanks everyone!

You can see them here !

this Jes's Beth's wife, Jesse...I just had to say how proud I am of her for making all these beautiful dipes & longies!! They are so much fun to use!

Don't you just LOVE side aplix. I thought I loved front and side snaps, but once I discovered side aplix I fell in love. It is super fast to get on a wiggly baby, and they have a hard time figuring out how to open it. Plus it makes the front of the diaper look so cute. Your work is beautiful, and I love your embellishments.

Beautiful woolies!! And dipes!

those are adorable! I love the embellishments! Did you just use extra wool cuts? And what kind of thread? I have to do some!

Ah, you all make me feel so good! I promise to look at your pics and post nice things about them too! I'm really, really pleased that everything turned out so well. I am still planning on adding something to the front of the red ones, I just haven't decided what will match the swirl on the butt.

The longies and butt sweater pattern I used is at Baby Luv Look to the left sidebar near the bottom to find the links to the patterns.

The applique is just made from the wool scraps (hence why the designs are all the same colours as the other pairs of longies/ pants :LOL ) I lightly felted the sweaters I used (just through the washer & dryer once so it would still have a bit of stretch... learned that from your thread Mickiswing ) I just cut out the shapes I wanted and sewed them on. I used regular 100% polyester thread to make sure it won't wick. There really isn't enough stretch with 2 layers of wool for the stiches to pull out and after felting, the fabric doesn't seem to be unravelling at all. Next time I'll try to colour coordinate the thread a bit. The applique started out as a 'I don't have time to start a new project but I have a bit of time and all these scraps' sort of a thing so didn't think much about it before I started. Then it started looking amazing so I kept going

So inspirational! As soon as I return home from visiting my parents, I am going to attempt some bum sweaters and longies from two Goodwill sweaters!

Thank you for the inspiration and great pictures!

Beth,

Just had to compliment you further by letting you know I was telling some other diapering mamas today about your adorable appliques! I still can't get over how cute they are

Those look terrific, congratulations!

Also, totally OT - did y'all get married in Canada? Or did you have to go somewhere else? Not up on the marriage laws in Canada and am curious

Thanks for the compliments everyone! I've used my side aplixing diapers a whole bunch now and I'm SOOO happy with the pattern! They fit my daughter like a dream!

Moonbucket, We got married the first day we were able to get a marriage licences in Ottawa! Same Sex marriage became legal just this past spring all across Canada but there was an Ontario court ruling in June of 2003 that made same sex marriage legal in this province then. My wife and I had already had a big celebration 3 years before that so we were more than ready to make it a legal thing. You can see pics of us with our marriage licence here

We didn't mean to get much publicity but as it turns out it was a bit of a circus at city hall that day... Anyway, that's part of our story...

Jes'sbeth, I looked at your photo and you guys are too cute! I noticed the other day that you had a wife, and my first thought was "That lucky girl. She is married to someone that she can go fabric shopping with and share her diaper addiction!" And I was so jealous!!! Don't get me wrong, I adore my dh, but having a wife would have many perks. I come home with the cutest fabric, sew up this adorable diaper, and can't wait for my dh to come home so he can see our ds modeling it. I point it out to him and he says "that's nice". He really does not have a clue.

But he did fix my sewing machine, so he is pretty cool in his own way.

Congrats on making it legal. Marriage ROCKS! You still sound like a newlywed in your postings and that is so sweet.
