I aspire to be Molly Weasley - anyone else

I am rereading the Harry Potter series right now and realized that the Burrow is a bit like the home I aspire to have. I imagine Molly to keep a clean, though cluttered house, full of pottery and hand-made, natural items, which is all made useful, rarely simply for decoration. No Chinese vases standing on pedestals in her house (it'd just get repeatedly broken by the kids anyhow). It would be very comfortable and warm and there would always be something cooking. The furniture would be in warm tones and worn, but overstuffed and comfy.

Now, I could do with a bit of magic, to help with the cleaning aspect though.

so true!
I wouldnt mind having the weasley's over or vice versa! I know I'd feel right at home there! :LOL

dont think i want 7 kids though!

yep!

peaceful chaos is what i picture at the weasley's, and it would definitely smell good at their house. (that's one of my obsessions, i always hope our house smells good)

I'm now imagining what Arthur Weasley would do in my house- I've got plugs, and fellytones, and all sorts of other interesting things in my house!!!!

Truly though, I'd love to be friends with the Weasley's. I even share a birthday with Ginny!

Me too! Except maybe not worry so much.

I agree! Mrs. Weasley is one of my favorite characters and I really picture her like such a sweet, natural, warm person. I would LOVE to be like her.

Me too! Me too! I always fancied myself to be a little Hermione but after reading all the books again, I want to be Molly. I mean, she's a mom- she's a member of the Order, and you know she's a kick-butt witch! She ROCKS!

I want Molly to be my best friend, so I can stop by and have coffee and chat around her kitchen table all the time

Me! Me! I want to be Molly Weasley too. I love the way she just takes everything on board, and picks her issues.

(Except, you know, I want Tonks' hair... )

You know, I sorta wish every mother was Molly Weasley. That I had a friend like her, that my mom was like her, that I was like her. I mean, okay, she yells. Alfie Kohn wouldn't so much approve of her, but she's so warm and loving in general. Maybe I should get a rubber wristband - WWMD? That'll be my new vision for going about my life - instead of the tribe, the Burrow.

Ok- me, too but I think I need the clock that tells me where everyone is. And I think her house isn't so clean... more like mine... kid focused and clean focused just don't fit in the same day for me.

Oh I need one!!

I love Molly, I imagine her having the kids at home with a m/w. I dont recall reading about a mat. ward at St Mungo's when they visited Arthur. And I imagine she BFd the kids Warm cozy house full of deliscious cooking smells *sigh* I want my house to feel as homey as the Burrow.
I grew up in a too clean house where when someone walked into our house they wouldnt be able to tell if anyone actually lived there or it was a museum I love the atmosphere of The Burrow

One of my goals in life has been to allow my home to be "lived in". I don't want fancy furniture. Any breakables I cherish greatly are packed away. Things are NOT spic n span and I want my kids to be able to play and not get yelled at for the toys everywhere..

So, yeah..I wanna be Molly Weasley..

I could sure do with some of that magic to get the dishes and laundry done!

My MIL *is* Molly Weasley.

She and her dh are red headed, and they have seven red-headed (or strawberry blond at the very least) kids. 5 girls and 2 boys, though, and no twins. But I picture dh and his brother as being a lot like the Weasley twins, when he tells me about the mischief they made. MIL is a sahm, always cooking, and has a clean but cluttered home (this has a lot to do, I think, with the stuff that 7 kids have left behind!). She is very motherly to everyone she meets and is often bustling about doing something. If one of our kids gets messy while we're visiting, she somehow still has clothes somewhere that will fit them, even though her youngest just finished her first year at university. Whenever we leave her place to travel home, she has sandwiches, homemade cookies, and juice packed up for us. She has taught me how to quilt. But don't cross her! (Or so dh claims, she's always been nice when I'm around )

FIL is a big Harry Potter fan, and I keep chuckling to myself at the similarities as I read the books (we just started reading the series about a month ago).

I want to be Molly, too! She has always been my favorite character, more so as the books progress. And I LOVE her house! ITA about the magic....I just want to supervise as my dishes scrub themselves and potatoes get peeled!

yes! yes!

I like the actress who plays her in the movies but I think they made her much more shrieky and shrill than she is in the books. I also think she is a bit symbolic of what Harry has missed, having been motherless all those years. And she's in stark contrast to Mrs. Dursley of course.

The only problem I have with your premise, Annakiss, is your assertion that your house is "cluttered."

Sigh, but wouldn't it be great to be able to make dinner with a few judicious waves of a wand?

There's stuff everywhere... really! It's just well-organized. I'm not quite Molly Weasley.

Oh, i'd love to be Molly! I love how she knits eveyone sweaters at Christmas. She's always feeding people. She's a fierce mama. Love her!

PS - annakiss, I'd sport a WWMD wristband . . .
