Hoover Floor Mate for wood floors

I think it's called the Floor Mate. It's like a vacuum with a water reservoir and it vacuum/mops your floor and sucks the water back up and dries as it goes. Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone tried it?

I have one. It's not just for wood floors. It's for any hard floor. I use it for the kitchen and bathrooms. It works good.

So, is it a miralce product worth forking out the $ for? Is it as loud as a vacuum? Do you have to use nasty products in it?

Thanks~

I am looking for the a vacuum that will work for me. Our floors are tiled and we have a 23mo plus another one on the way. I want to know how much this 'Floor Mate' will take. How big of a mess can it handle?

Does anyone have any more comments on the 'Floor Mate'?

I have 1000+ square feet of limestone flooring in my house. My floors really took a beating during the fires here in San Diego. There was ash all over them and I had six additional people staying at my house (they were evacuated) making lots of mess. I also do LOTS of entertaining. My Floormate cleans very well and very fast. You can put just about any cleaner in it to clean with - even plain water (just no solvents or pine). It is as loud as a regular vacuum.

mamablue- thanks for your reply.

But let me see if I understood clearly. Could I actually say good-bye to my old mop and broom if I went out and got myself a floormate? I should mention that I am the mom of a 2yo and am expecting another baby soon. This means that there will be a lot of food and spills all over, kwim. I don't even have a regular vacuum so I am totally clueless in this department.

I still have a mop and a broom from my pre-Floormate days. I never use the mop. Ever ever. I do use the broom sometimes though - it's faster for a quick sweep under the high chair. I also have a dust mop that I use to do a really really fast oh-my-gosh-my-MIL-just-knocked-on-the-door sweeping.

As far as kids go, I have a four year old and a 13 month old. The four year old makes spectacular messes and the 13 month old is always putting things into her mouth. The Flormate has worked great for us.

(I feel like a total infomercial)
