I Had to have it.. and yes it does its job but I dread it when I finish a diaper and it comes time to put the snaps on.. I feel like it takes soo much time and effort and sometimes I try so hard and they still arent straight.. I give WAHMs sooo much credit...Aplix is just sooo easy but I need snaps on our fitteds for going coverless at home since my DD can take the aplix off.. : :LOL

I hear you, it's not my favorite step either. It takes a long time and I don't know what the ratio is but enough of them still aren't perfect.. usually just one out of line but often right in the center! lol Oh well, we do our best!

I used to sit in front of the TV and snap while my husband and I watched (I mostly listened) and that was nice because we were together. Now we have no TV so I snap when Nathan's playing if I can help it so I can take advantage of sleeping times to sew/serge!

Anyway - try to think of a creative way to make it not so boring and long! lol

I like mine, and the kids love watching me put snaps on. What frustrates me is getting the snaps straight! Kudos to those who can do it!

I haven't decided if I like it or not I love having one - maybe it makes me feel cool or something, LOL. My kids love watching me put snaps on and I'm sure they'd be all over it if they could get to it.

However, I'm finding I'm not a huge fan of snaps on the diapers, and they take forever, and they're hard to get off if you make a mistake. Oh, and when I was pregnant, they caused contractions every time I used it (I went into preterm labor shortly after because of other complications) So I don't exactly have fond memories of it!

I'm still up in the air about selling it. I don't use it much, but keeping thinking I should keep it, just in case.

:LOL Thats kind of how I feel

OO wow you went into PTL because of snapping? Did you have to explain that to the Drs??

I LOVE it for my fitteds since we like to go coverless at home and my DD rips aplix right off so it needs to be snaps but Im learning that aplix is going to be the way to go this fall/winter especially while we are out!! Under clothes it doesnt matter anywayand I enjoy putting aplix on my VB AIOS!! Im even ditiching the idea of snaps on all my prefitteds for aplix so I can put them on under a cover and not worry about it...

I just HAD to have a snap press too. I made a handful of diapers with it, both to keep and sell, and decided I really didn't like it. It was such a pain trying to design the perfect snap configuration, and despite careful calculations, they never seemed to end up right. I'm back to aplix now. I sold my snap press to help fund a massive order with GMAR for some prefitteds (which I may or may not add aplix too, but have to try them on the kids first to see). Anyway, you are not alone in your snap press frustrations. I also felt cool owning one, but it ended up not being worth it for me. Thank goodness you can get quite a bit of money back when selling them.

Well, I don't love it as much as I THOUGHT I would, but I still love it. I tend to build things up in my head.

Now figuring out the perfect snap placement, that is a whole 'nother story!

I've never seen/touched/used one, but let me tell you, it has GOT to be better than the cheapy plastic press that comes with cheapy metal snaps! I ended up with my snaps in the right place, but one fell out, one was warped so it can't be used, and I broke the cheapy plastic setter with the hammer! :LOL Not to mention my stupidity in applying the snaps on my kitchen table... :

I'm going to make some AIOs with "real" fabric/materials soon, and I'm going to do aplix all the way, including an aplix-in soaker. It's just SO easy. I have yet to screw up aplix/velcro/whatever (now watch my next diapers turn out horribly :P).

After reading this thread, if I ever get the itch for a snap press, I think I need to find someone local who has one and try it out first!

I am not so great at getting the snaps straight, but it beats sewing on aplix.
It's not my fav. part of making diapers but I don't hate it either. I DO hate sewing on labels, and winding bobbins. I hate it with a passion.

Anything is better than sewing on Aplix!! I *hate* sewing on Aplix...I would have completed diapers sitting around because I didn't want to sew on the Aplix. So far I don't mind the snap press even though I have had some frustrating experiences with it. There was that one time I put all the snaps on backwards :Bag and completely ruined the diaper trying to get them off. That sucked. It's still another step when it feels like I *should* be done with the diaper, but I still like it better than Aplix!!

Not technically. But I had a placental abruption and an irritable uterus. The snapping just aggravated things more. About the same time, my bro got married and I really, really overdid it. But she's here and healthy now

I love my snap press! It's aplix that drives me nuts. The thread gets tangled in the hook part and either breaks or gets all snarly and ugly on the bottom. Bleah!

I'm trying to learn to love my snap press. I want my snaps to be in perfect rows and it never seems to work out that way! But, I really don't like sewing on Aplix, so crooked rows are definitely better than that.

I'm currently thinking about buying one, so if anyone's wanting to seriously get rid of their own, I'd probably buy it. LOL.

Putting snaps on isn't my favorite thing, especially getting the bottom part through the layers of fabric, what a PITB! But it's still way better IMO than sewing on aplix or touchtape. And I love that when I'm changing a poopy dipe I don't have to mess with folding back the tabs onto the laundry tabs. And I hate that lint still gets stuck in the tabs anyway.

I was thinking of getting a snap press since I always order all of my pockets with snaps. But I started making pockets with side aplix and I LOVE them! It is hard for my ds to get them off and I can put them on so quickly.

Anyway, I could not justify buying a snap press since I am making my own diapers to save money, not to sell. And if I bought a snap press I might as well just buy pre-made diapers!

If you ever wanted snaps on one of your homemade diapers I'd be happy to help you out!
