Was fantastic! As good if not better than the first. The 3 hours just flew by again...I could have watched another 3 hours easily. Can't wait for the next.

Ooooooh! We are definitely going to see it at the Cinerama, it will be our Christmas gift to us. When I rode the bus by this morning at 6AM, there was a line down the block to get in (I read that they started showing it at 12:01 in the morning). I have read nothing but good things about this movie... we are quivering in anticipation...

Yeah, I saw that there's going to be more Golum Gollum scares me, more Aragorn of course, and that the battle scenes are phenomenal. I can't wait to see the Ents... we are sooooo excited!

Dh & I have a baby sitter lined up for tommorrow night. We haven't quite decided what to do with our time alone, but seeing TTT is at the top of the list. I'm going to see if I can get tickets today.

Well, I went last night and as much as I couldn't stand saying
anything bad about The Fellowship of The Ring, as I understood the changes that had to be made, I feel very differently about
this one. There are a lot of changes, and I really don't understand their purpose. : : :

People who have not read the books or have read them a very long time ago will not be disappointed.

I am one of those people who went to see the first one three times...I won't go three times to this one, I'll wait for the DVD to
see it again.

we went to see it last night!!

I kept trying to rush dh out of the house - we were going to a drive-through and i didn't want it to be packed by the time we got there

well, there were barely any people there (not too many people know about this drive-through around here - which works for us, makes it pretty easy to bring a baby)

and yes, the 3 hours definitely just flew by

now have to wait another year

Where is the super jealous smilie when you need it?

We are temporarily living in a city where we dont know anybody and will have to wait until late January (maybe even February ) to see it!!

I will just have to live vicariously through all of you!!!

So glad to hear there is lots of Aragorn, sigh... (lusty smilie)

I started re-reading The Two Towers yesterday...

Sarolu..Just a warning..Re-reading the book is great, but it has NOTHING to do with the movie...Sheesh! Talk about taking Liberties with a story!!!

Waaah! I couldn't get tickets for tonight....they're sold out until Dec. 26th. Dh & I are just going to wait until it comes to the cheap theater. On the bright side, we're going to see some live Bluegrass tonight, since we already have a sitter.

I haven't seen it yet but I have been told they butchered Faramir..
When i do get to go see it I know I will enjoy it as Peter Jacksons interpretation of the books, which seems to be different than many others. Im sure if we all made movies out of the LOTR books, they would be different as the way we interpret what we read is different.

I to was slightly disappointed when my favourite scenes were left out of FOTR but understand not everything could have been put in (the movie would have been a day long!!) and am now enjoying re-reading the books, although I did enjoy the 2 times I saw FOTR.

Or maybe I will be disappointed when I see it, but Im guessing I wont be.
If it were a matter of INTERPRETATION I could go along.and I understand the need to cut some scenes....but to outright make up scenes that never happend and put characters in places they never were....That's too much for me.

I'm with Nankay...

Like I said in the TW Spoiler thread :

"whatever you do to a movie version of a book, you can change the length of certain scene, change little details that don't really serve the story but you should never change a character's heart, his wisdom, his personnality."

So yes, Abimommy

Very sad

Well I can't say much because I haven't seen it
In FOTR scenes were made up too, like how the 4 hobbits met up for the journey to Bree I believe lots was added there because to have them get together the same way as in the book would have taken a long time. I am guessing that there is a lot more than minor changes to cause such disappointment among some of the viewers.

It's been 20 years since I read 'em. Memory is not ... what I saw.

Didn't see "2towers," because we don't get to movie theaters anymore but finally watched "Fellowship" on video tonight.

And I could not get through the whole movie.

We turned it off about 2/3 of the way through.

Maybe it's my hormones, but when I read this in my youth I ate it up. And ate up all sorts of sci-fi & fantasy & horror (used to have a small HP Lovecraft collection, for goodness sakes) ... anyway, I just could not deal with the ... well, the special effects, and was much too freaked by the visuals of the orcs, etc.

And will not watch the rest.

Was looking forward to rereading the books, too. Still have my original copies. Now I don't think I can, because these are the visuals that will be in my head.

Am I getting old or hormonal or what the heck is this?
