having trouble

Thread Starter
I have been attempting to make some diapers, using terry cloth and pul, my sewing machine is having trouble with the thickness and not sewing properly. So, I passed my matterial along to my mother-in-law, who has more experience and time than I do, but she is having trouble with the pul, she says the thread is pulling through and she can't get it to stitch. Any advice on either issue would be helpful.
TIA

what size and type of needle? is the terry knit or woven? (PUL/woven combo is hard because the each require a different needle type).

what length stitch? what presser foot?

I was using the heavy needle because of the layered terry cloth. I don't know if the terry is woven or not and I have no idea what kind of stuff my MIL is using

try a stretch needle or a universal needle. try a walking foot. and try using a longer stitch.

When sewing with PUL, I use a teflon foot and make sure that the PUL is facing up. I also use a ball point needle and play with the tension (I find that a lower thread tension works better).

HTH!
