Emily's Birth story

Well I guess with hearing all about everyones natural beautiful deliveries I am a bit reluctant to post my C sec story but just in case anyone is intrested here goes.

I was scheduled for a repeat C sec, even though my second son was born via Vbac unmedicated, beacause this hospital will not allow vbacs. I was kinda disappointed at first but have since come to terms with it. I showed up at the hospital at 5:30am monday morning ready to meet my lil girl in a few hours. Then I was told my C sec had been bumped to wednesday and I freaked no one bothered to tell me or my Dr. this so my Dr. said go have some breakfast and be back here at 3:30 pm so after some tears and such I agreed. My Mom had come into town to be with me so we spent the day together with my hubby taking turns napping since no one could sleep the night before.

I arrived at the hospital and got all checked in they put me on monitors and started an IV after sticking me three times and blowing two viens ouch. The anesthesiologist came in to talk to me and he was so funny he really helped me relax. I was concerned I may have some problems beacause with my first son my epidural was not working when they started cutting. Around 6:30 they had me all ready to go into the OR My Dr. stayed by my side the whole time and talked me through the spinal she was great then she made me laugh while she was shaving me by asking if I wanted any kind of pattern :LOL she said she could give me a nice landing strip :LOL . After they got me all draped my hubby came in and sat by my head he held my hand and told me how amazing I was and how proud he was to call me his wife. I didn't have any pain but the sensations were really weird pulling and such hard to explain. Then it was baby time she was stuffed real high into my left side so the had to kinda fish around for her it took about 4 minutes to finally pop her head out. The Dr says she's a fiesty one as she bit down on her finger as she was pulling her out. She was bright pink and gorgeous. Hubby went with Emily to the nursery to be wieghed and bathed during this time the anesthesiologist gave me something so I could sleep through the closing and such they also did a tubal ligation so this is my last baby. After that I went to recovery for what seemed like forever but was actually about an hour.

I was so proud of my hubby he really fought for our daughter the nurses kept trying to have him give her a bottle cause she was fussy and he said no way go get my wife she will feed her. First thing I did when I got back into my room was latch my lil peanut on and she nursed like a champ for 45 minutes. I spent the rest of my hospital stay arguing with the nursing staff that I did not need to supplement and that my baby was getting the very best. I don't understand why this hospital wasn't more supportive makes me really sad. I had this one nurse who refused me pain medication unless I wanted to take the heavy narcotic perscribed by anesthesia. My Dr was beside herself beacause she wrote orders that if my pain was not to bad to give me Ibprofen. I finally accepted the narcotic beacause by that time my pain was real bad.

I am so glad to be home and thankful for my healthy baby the pain gets a lil less everyday and my sweet lil angels have been letting me sleep quite a bit. I guess that wraps it up now I guess I need to change my signature :LOL

It sounds like you Dr. is wonderful!! The nurses though, sorry you had to deal with them. Thats so great your hubby wouldn't let them give her a bottle! Great job!! To both of you. I'm happy your healing nicely, and your family is letting you rest. Take care and thank you for sharing you birth story.

Congrats Mama, and welcome Emily!
Way to go Hubby, not letting them give her a bottle! My DH is great, but if the hospital said give her a bottle, I'm sure he'd do it cuz they are 'supposed' to know whats best. I hope you are all healed up super quick!

Baby Emily!!
Congratulations Mama!
Sorry to hear about all the hassle from the hospital.
It's wonderful that your dh put a stop to the bottle! And you are successfully nursing.

DH & I went through some hassle after dd's birth, too. I am still so thankful dh was able to look out for our dd too.

Enjoy your new babe and growing family.
